Hi, neighbor!

There are a LOT of chicken keepers around here. When we moved over here from Western MA (Berkshire County native here) about a year ago, we began to play "spot the chickens," just to see how many households had them. I swear it seems like every fifth or sixth house has them, and there are more runs and coops popping up all the time. Chickens are in! I can't wait until my chicks come the week of May 9th. I'm probably lucky our TSC had run out when we were over there the other day, as otherwise I would've had some peeping in the garage already.

I grew up in Berkshire county also. Still work there, in Lenox.

You have completely lost your mind. Its those d.... silkies , I just know it. I got tired of wearing tin foil so I left town. When I get back I'll be making little tin foil hats for them to wear instead.

I don't know who is looking to try Del chicken more me or DW, so I wouldn't eat them. Tell Mark he has my sympathy and to put both feet down.

Rancher

Well.....too late! Bought 4 khaki campbells.....too cute for words! Friendly and omg....they looove the nipple waterer! Funny to watch them go at it!
You know I wouldn't eat them! LOL. I don't want Betsy mad at me!

I think that covers it for now! Nope.... And Alpacas.
I need someone to go with me to the auction & make sure I don't BUY ANYTHING!!!

Yeah, Tim -- Trish will "work for silkies" now! Guess I'd better get a Resistance is Futile sign for my front door!

She's gonna help me get the panels for my hoop house & take home more silkie babies. Good deal!

Faith is great -- glad it went well for you! My meaties will be ready to go in 2 weeks. One of them already weighs 6.5 pounds, which is crazy. John wants to go so he can watch & learn. I'll be off buying ice for the cooler.

Cuz I can't spell tonight...

This is a long shot...Anyone in the Albany area know of a Vet who is reasonable...A very nice family purchased a pug puppy from me and today the pup was chasing the cat and he jumped and broke his paw...The surgery is a little more then they have and they asked me if I know a vet in the Albany area...I have given them the 2 I know of..but thought maybe someone on this thread would have the suggestion...Thanks so much!

Girl! You are silly! I just have chicks coming out of my ears -- wish I had more buyers for them. I'm going to post an ad here in BST. I'm hatching 90% average in the sportsman. I was lucky to hatch 50% before... just never got the hang of the styro-bators.

You know I'll hook you up with silkies! Depending on how well the 40 Silver-grey Dorking eggs hatch, I may be begging you to take some! I just ordered White & Colored from another breeder to be sent monday. I have with Dorking Fever!!! Fortunately John likes them. Dorkings are awesome -- they've been babysitting my grow-out pen of obnoxious teenage chickens. The Orps would've literally killed them by now. I had to grow my last batch of Orps out to adult size before introducing them because Elton's a big bully.

I found some nice brown tarp for the hoop house at Home Depot this morning. John is finally onboard with it, which will make my life easier. I like doing projects with him that are my idea. I think 33 acres is sufficient for all those beasties... don't you? I could commandeer the pole barn!

Anyone from upstate area. I live near Clayton / Alexandria Bay. Raising chickens this year and wondering if anyone knew of any feed mills out here. Let me know if you do. Thanks

I know that almost no one on this post is from my side of the state, but wanted to share this link. They are holding the auction in may and october...not a show, but I know that there are a few of you, like me, that have a few roos to rehome and a chicken addiction to feed. I bought a roo (I know, silly) at this auction last year and there were a lot of nice looking people there who brought some nice looking birds. I got a real nice quality BR roo for my BR hens and I love him, he is so sweet.
I may not make the may auction since I am expecting, but I may still have some birds there. But if I send the DH I know he will bring more birds home...he has no personal restraint when he see's a good looking chicken
