Thank you so very much for posting that!!!! I never find out until its over. I was wondering what they mean by a viewable box? Does that mean they need to be in like a wire cage? If so does the cage go with them? I sure can't afford to be getting rid of cages.

ya...the cages go with the birds. A lot of people get cardboard boxes and cut windows out, staple rabbit wire in window. I have the cage from the roo I got last year and may have to use that one. I too, hate getting rid of cages. Imagine trying to transfer birds from one cage to another at a show how many would be running around loose!

I live in West Lebanon....welcome!

Hi, neighbor!

There are a LOT of chicken keepers around here. When we moved over here from Western MA (Berkshire County native here) about a year ago, we began to play "spot the chickens," just to see how many households had them. I swear it seems like every fifth or sixth house has them, and there are more runs and coops popping up all the time. Chickens are in! I can't wait until my chicks come the week of May 9th. I'm probably lucky our TSC had run out when we were over there the other day, as otherwise I would've had some peeping in the garage already.

No there are NOT alot of chicken people here. They are all insane in need of serious intervention.

Seriously after watching pet hoarders I will be making a concerted effort not to become one.

Does anyone in the Soutwestern part of the state know where to buy food-grade diatomaceous earth? Been having a devil of a time finding it. I know I can order online, but shipping kills me!

Every time I open this thread up, I think of Peggy who started it. Did we NYers just hijack her thread and make it our own??

Trish...I will be swimming in ducks next week. If you want some ducklings, let me know. I have several hatching this Tuesday and another bunch in 9 days. There is a little of everything in the bator.

I bought my diatomaceous earth off of amazon.com...it cost less than $50 for a 40 or 50lb bag of it (I forget) and that included shipping! It is food grade and will last a LONG time! If you find it in stores, it is usually only 3 to 10 lbs and has unnecessary added ingredients, isn't food grade, and by comparison VERY expensive...3 lbs was $20. Find someone who may want to go in halves with you and you can justify the shipping that way.
