This is why I keep getting this breed confused...I've seen it spelled so many ways. The other day I came across someone mentioning Samuntras?! And then someone mentioned how small your birds were, Stony. I thought they were pretty average sized? ARE they small? I had no idea.

The only "real" Sumatra's are the large foul. A large foul rooster will weigh about 5 lbs max. A large foul hen about 4 lbs. Much smaller than my RIR's. The RIR hens are bigger body wise than the Sumatra roosters. The roosters make up for it in feathers.
Now the bantam Sumatra's are a human made monstrosity that never should have happened imho. Don't mess with mother nature.

There are similar names chickens that are NOT Sumatra's but people confuse them with Sumatra's. For instance Serama. NOT a Sumatra. But people get confused easily.

Yes do everything she can to stay in school. Of course that depends on what she's going to school for. I'm sure she's told me but I'm old I forget. Let go of everything else until she gets that sheep skin (degree). DO NOT QUITE SCHOOL. The rest will be waiting for her when she gets done.

Apply for every scholarship there is. Even if she doesn't think she'll qualify. Talk to the Librarian to see if they know of any scholarships she has not thought about. Even small amounts help. Perhaps zero interest loans for any amount.

Ask family members if they can help out with a few bucks. Live at home or with another family member to save. If it were my niece or nephew and they behaved themselves I'd have no problem.

FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS. I worked more than 40 hrs and my best semester was one that was full time. I had two on campus classes, one on line class and one independent study. Borrow text books from the college library.

If you have someone who can loan you text books or on line text books do it. Perhaps someone can loan her a kindle or one of those book reader thingies so she can use their account to get text books on line.

I used to type papers at home, save them to disc and then take them up to school to print them out for free. Or print at the public library where the cost is cheaper per page than you could do it at home.

DO NOT QUIT SCHOOL!
