My BRs havent laid since the first polar vortex. Lazy Hens. The Leghorns and the Sex Links lay almost every day!
when we had them delivered to the barn they would replace wet bags with the next shipment, however we were ordering 150 bags of shavings at a time.
I did receive a response that they would replace the damp bags but I only buy 5 or 10 at a time. Of course it could have been the storage too. Which I figured if the bags are left in the sun or a damp place.
I mix them with DE to dry them out, but they did say they were working on drying them properly. I assume he means condition or condensation.
I'm satisfied with their reply.
Rancher Hicks,
Thank you for your preference of our shavings!
Indeed their being dust free is one of the aspects which distinguishes them from others.
Sorry to hear that you have gotten a bad batch of bedding for your animals!
They are not supposed to be wet as you are describing.
Every year once the true cold sets in, our systems get bogged down and we need to reformulate the drying patterns. Because we can never anticipate the effect there is always a chance a wet batch makes it out to our Customers. In addition, occasionally our resellers may store product outside and moisture leaks in.
Regardless, I apologize for the inconvenience and we would be happy to supply you with replacement bedding if you stopped by the Plant in Sherrill. If thats not an option, we can arrange to have it done through CountryMax.
We are currently in the process of acquiring updated equipment which will alleviate this seasonal contention. It is part of our Plant upgrade due this Spring.
Thanks again for bringing it to our attention.
