NY chicken lover!!!!

Stony says flip em ...& carry them upside down for a bit.. see if that works

I actually just did this with one of the newbies I got yesterday. The mottled cockerel was being so nasty to everyone. Everyone else was minding their manners when they were let out of the boxes but wanted nothing to do with that. Was pecking everyone, including his "bonded" other half. When I moved them to the coop I held him upside down for a couple of minutes and after that he was a saint! Hasn't been a problem since. I really didn't think this would work but this guy is little and I gotta whip him into shape now before becomes a problem. I don't think this would work on a rooster like Gru though if he were ever to turn, he's pretty big and boy does he know it!

I had a bully rooster that I tried this with. Didn't work, lol. He started out so sweet as a chick...was very friendly, loved being picked up and held. I've since learned that my handling of him was a mistake...as soon as he hit "pooberty" he turned mean, almost overnight.

We called him Bob the Terrorist...our neighbor ended up swapping him with a less terroristic Barred Rock, lol. Too bad...he was a nice looking rooster, but he was mean, and only to me. He had to go.

I have Del chicks and if you weren't so far you could have some.  Iv'e got them posted to CL but if they don't sell I'll have to give them away.  I've been in contact with a friend in MO and will be getting some of hers next month Lord willing.

If Lapeerian wants some I am about half way I don't mind picking them up and meeting her?

I don't mind helping out either since I'm making frequent trips to Syracuse.

You guys are the bestest! I called after work and Ithaca sold out of the GLW, so didn't make the trip. I emailed Mo'ville girl again to see if she has any SLW yet. I really like my GLW boy. Hoping to find something better than hatchery quality, but don't want show birds. In words of Rancher, Utility Dual Purpose birds.
Rancher - don't think I could take all the Del chicks, but maybe a few. Did you want to part with 2 EE chicks as well?
I really should go through the Chickenstock thread and start putting together a list of what everyone offers that I might like. Like a CrzyChick has Aussies and I want something that will lay a blue/green/olive egg.

Thanks everyone for the advice regarding Fayette. I have an inquiry in with Natureberry. :thumbsup

I do love them he is breeding his own sizzled omg I can't wait.

Anyone know of any houses for rent or rent to own around Syracuse and the surrounding areas? Even Bridgeport, Canastota and Kirkville are good. I'm going to have to move in the coming months. :-(

Why you need to move? Good luck!

LYNZI,

Good luck with the hatch I'm super excited for you.

Tell him to raise the "skids" up as high as they will go, so it just skims over the top of the ground.  While mine does the same in the drive it does make it so I don't have to shovel.

I once forgot about a bag of sand in the yard and hit that.  Funniest thing and thank the Lord didn't wreck the blower.  Sand came shooting out and flying over the yard.

Hahahahahaha that is halarious.

Now that's a lot of snow! I am surprised and glad my netting did not break! Strong stuff

I can always pick up from Rancher and bring to Luv to deliver to you if that helps you get them.

Just got home from dance with my daughter, up to 3 pips now!

I'm in Marathon area, Luv is DeRuyter and you are in Tully area, right? I think Tully and DeRuyter would be about equal distances for me. Let me do some thinking and planning ;)

Yes, I'm right on the Tully/Lafayette line. But this way if Luv doesn't want to travel out to Syracuse I can since I do just about every other day anyway to run errands.

I travel to Cortland at least once a week. So it is no big deal to meet you there if you want.

I'll have to see next year if Rancher will have any more Del that he wants to sell. I'd love to have some this year, but I'm over my limit and still have to find places to put 2 more ducks in a few weeks. So maybe next year.
