NY chicken lover!!!!

So my ducks arrived this morning all dead. It says they were shipped out on the 10th. I was saposed to get them the 12. I'm so mad! I have to wate until 8:00 central time to get ahold of someone at the hatchery. This is the last time I use a hatchery ( or at least this one).... I'm so sad! On top of it I can't figure out how to work my incubator and nothing is hatching for me. :( maybe I should just quit..,

OMG Desiree, I'm so sorry! That is aweful! Was anyone able to tell you why they weren't delivered on time? Who did you order from?

Sorry for your losses - out of 15 chicks I ordered, 14 were DOA. The lone survivor - Henrietta - is doing well so far. Thanks to everyone here who has recommended Natureberry farm. I going there this afternoon to get Henrietta some siblings

they don't know . According to my post man it says they sat in Cali for 3 days. 10-12. He couldn't figure it out. I ordered from McMurry hatchery. Who are in Iowa so I don't see the need for them to even go to Cali. But I was just told that McMurry don't hatch their own eggs so maybe my ducks were hatched in Cali. Idk.... :(

:( im sorry!! where did you order? I'm hoping my chicks make it! I'm not getting them for another month. Both of my hatches turned up no baby's. I was so tempted the other day a TSC to buy baby's.

Not sure about legal or not buggy-wise, but they need to get to work, doctor's appointments and buy groceries just like we do. Given how much a horse and buggy cost to replace if they crash in the weather, rest assured they weren't out just joy riding to see how fast their new wheels could go in snow.

Most of the Amish in my area have people to drive them and they pay weekly or by the trip for such problems as weather or too far of a distance for the buggy. I have several friends that drive them for a living. They stay quite busy!

We actually had problems with some young men racing the buggys on the road last year, They were whippin the horses and the buggys were shuddering. Scary to me I had no idea they could go that fast.. trotters are really something.

I'm sorry those folk had to go out in the buggy in the bad weather. And yes, I have seen too many crashes already.

I hope they make it right for you thats not cheap. I'm afraid to buy from a hatchery. I have chicks being shipped from a AZ breeder on Monday I'm a nervous wreck about it. I'm going to drive to Rochester and pick them up at the postal Hub.

Here are the two that hatched overnight. Another just hatched and the poor think is getting trampled by these two so they're under the heat lamp now.

They all seem to be blues so far.

I just called them they are sending us a replacement for Monday. Also my hubby said we can go to TSC and get an upgrade incubator. :) I'm going to look at chicks while I'm there. Looking for white silkies. I'm going to google what they look like as baby's bc I forgot.
