Any baby Pictures ?

When I got home tonight ..I found My Baby Aussie roosting on the blanket fold that separates the coop / run area
He was afraid to roost in the big coop with the Biggies ...His mama was in there .So he found his own spot

Didn't end up getting any chicks from TS yet but I did start the incubators put some duck eggs in one and some orpington and silkie eggs in the other. Can't wait until I have little chicks running around again. Although I still may make go to tractor supply after I get my hair done tomorrow and get me some little chicks now.

My Tetra-saurus duo have grown like weeds and are almost fully feathered. They have grown faster than the rest and now I need to get them in their own cage so the poor banties and red/whites don't keep getting plowed over.

Morning all! Sun is back so hopefully it warms up today. Heard a commotion last evening from the brooder and found a chick who had a bloody tail where it had been pecked. The others were after it. I put bluekote on it to heal it up but the others kept after it. One of the other chicks got a spot of bluecoat by her eye when she went to peck the spot. The others went after that spot as well. Ended up turning over my wire egg basket and put the two of them inside in in the brooder. Put the top and bottom of a chinese food container on two sides of the basket just to be sure they werent bothered on two sides. Worked well. Let them out to eat and drink this morning and kept the rest of the chicks from going after them. Put them back in the basket. Dh will have to let them out periodically during the day until I get home from work with some red bulbs. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Locked down my three silkie eggs last night. Now the wait is on. I have almost a dozen and a half waiting to go in the bator as soon as these have hatched. Should have lots of babies soon. Next weekend is the big lockdown on the 40 large fowl I have in the big bator. Chicks everywhere! Splash and blue silkies and heritage rir and mutts.

Have to get the empty coop cleaned up and ready for the first batch of chicks. Got some repairs to do to the run and inside and general cleaning. I need warm weather so I can paint and stain as well.

I was a little later than normal letting everyone out this morning and my broody silkie momma ran everyone over this morning to get out and take her morning constitutional! She was too funny bawking and running through the other girls and over Legolas in her attempt to get out the door into the run. She is sitting on 7 eggs, bless her soul, and has them all covered when she is in the box. I am letting her do her thing. I candled them and they are all at different stages. Going to see what happens.

Off to the pharm. Have a nice day everyone.

Pharm what size egg and are the heritage RIR good layers? I have RIR but they do not lay large eggs in my opinion they are a medium egg I like the birds but not the size of the eggs was thinking if they heritage ones lay bigger eggs I would get some from you at the chickenstock I would like to get into a heritage breed but not sure what one.

Hi people :)
I had no idea there were so many chicken-lovers in New York!
I'm right in the Chemung/Waverly area, near Elmira.
Yahooo...!!! I am so happy to have someone join nearer to me. I live just outside Corning between Corning and Watkins Glen. Welcome.

2 weeks ago I went to TS and saw white Auracana chicks for sale. I explained to them that they were not Auracana's but they argued that they were. I bought 6 and told them that I would prove that they weren't. (The girl and I are friends through my shopping there, all in good fun) The next week that I went in there was a hand written sign that read white straight run chicks, clearance $1.00. So I now have 6 white chicks that are probably EE because they can lay any color egg but these chicks are quite stream line where as my own EE are usually more compact. Is it possible to tell what these might be? I'm thinking that maybe they are like the ones that were Super Blue Egg layers (like Armorfirelady's Edie and I have her sister)

Been a busy week, one of my twin grand daughters fell off her little bike and broke her arm. She was rushed to the pediatric hospital in Rochester, NY by ambulance for emergency surgery, now has 3 pins. Nothing breaks a grandmothers heart to see one of her own hurt. Even Pinky got a cast.

So sorry to hear about your grandbaby's arm. Hope she gets better soon!
