We live on a creek and have woods on 3 sides of us. If the deer flies don't get you during the day, the mosquitoes will get you at night. Deet, lots of deet, the highest percentage we can get. I have some 100% stuff in the garage that works most of the time :-/

Couple of years ago I made a concoction called 'vinegar of the 4 thieves'. recipe came with the bag. Well, after it sat & festered for the prescribed time, I liberally doused myself with it. Didn't do much for the bugs, but it kept the neighbors away!!

Ok so on top of Stella being injured by lord knows what, my youngest duckling, the Ancona has what I've figured out to be- Angel Wing. Any duck lovers know if it's too late to cure if she's already 7wks old??

Pharm and Metella I am so there with you if their is a bug that will bite it is going to find me and I also swell up huge from them. I love Deet and will continue to use it until it kills me

I have heard and even tried, with great success, taking a zinc suppliment daily during the summer/bug months keeps the bugs from biting as much. I started taking it 2 weeks before I went north to a camp on a lake....I only got bit ONCE the whole time I was there and that was just a lucky bug who ran into me. It seems that the zinc makes you smell different ...not to meantion it is good for your immune system. Someone try it and let us know if you have the same results I did. As I recall zinc wasn't that expensive and you only need take one each morning so a bottle goes a long way.

I don't have a huge problem with the skeeters (since I got sick anyway) but the TICKS love me. I have picked 5 of them off me and I don't EVER go in the woods....none attatched, just were crawling on my neck, arm and leg. Oh and one was IN my bra, little perv. LOL

Beautiful.. I only have girls.. We just want pets/eggs.. so no need for a rooster so when I saw this guy I was shocked to say the least on his size. I see pictures on here but I guess they dont really capture how "big" they truly are.

I'm dealing with the same thing with our buff Brahmas. Every night I go out and put them inside. They're in an A-frame and can't seem to grasp the concept of going up. They get down just fine.

I crawled in the mud at night to get them into this one. That's probably why I haven't finished it.

I use forum of this, but mine has garlic in it. Wicked detox, cures everything but gray hair-) Time come off the kiefer go back on the vinegar. Thieves oil used more of cleaner/antibiotic use it as air scrub and contact cleaner when I'am on a MRSA case. I choose to work in health care, but choose natural method for myself let rest family choose their own methods.

Morning Everyone!

Today I'm going to finish weeding the gardens, wash some dishes, laundry. DH cleaned out the juvenile pens Friday. We're using the dirty shavings between the rows in my garden to keep the weeds down and then we till them in in the fall.

Morning all. My long day yesterday wasnt too bad except for my knees killing me. The new rule of no kids under 17 except with a parent in the mall is working out well. No more roaming packs of bored kids. Looking forward to some chicken therapy today. Got my poultry cell that I ordered so I will start my layers on some. Hopefully it will give them a much needed boost. The phoebe is busy taunting my cat again. She is in the tree out front singing and my cat is in the window on the hunt. More of the boys are starting to crow. Have to pick up some more jars for them. Have to get some more jam jars as well.

Back later. Got a call to come get those errant boys from my friend. Processing will begin as soon as I pick them up!
