NY chicken lover!!!!

SORRY ABOUT YOUR DUCKS BUT WHEN YOU CONSIDER FOLKS WILL RUN OVER HUMANS AND TAKE OFF ONE CAN HARDLY EXPECT THEM TO CARE ABOUT ANIMALS.  :rant

I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS OVER EATHING THING. GOOD THING IT DON'T HAPPEN WITH HUMANS OR I'D BE DEAD LONG AGO. :lau     ESPECIALLY AT HALLOWEEN TIME.
WELL NOW I'VE DATED A FEW CHICKS IN MY TIME AND THEY NEVER GREW UP.
IT DEPENDS ON THE BREED SOMETIMES OR THE LINE. MY COLUMBIAN ROCKS TAKE LONGER THAN MOST.

MAY I SUGGEST A USED/FLEA MARKET MEDICINE CABINET TO STORE SUPPLIES?

WELL GOOD GARDEN O' PEAS!  I WAS WONDERING WHERE YOU'VE BEEN. HOW ARE YOUR C. ROCKS?  I SENT YOU A PM I THINK.
WELL NOW I'VE NEVER HAD ONE IN THE BASEMENT BUT HERE IT'D BE RIGHT UNDER OUR BEDROOM. IN THE GARAGE AREA IT DOES GET LOUD. AT LEAST FOR THE BANTAM B. LEGHORN AND SILKIES I HAD THERE ONCE.

COURSE YOU KNOW YOU DON'T NEED A P. COOKER FOR EVERYTHING BUT I DO WANT ONE, JUST CUZ.  YOU CAN'T BE TO CAREFUL ABOUT THESE THINGS RIGHT?

IN OTHER NEWS. WHEN DW TOOK ME TO MEET UP FOR THE TRIP TO WEST POINT SAW TWO FOXES CROSSING THE ROAD DOWN THE ROAD.
I DID HEAR ONE AND SAW ONE RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD A FEW NIGHTS AGO.  I HAD THE WINDOW OPEN SINCE IT WAS SO HOT.  DW HAS BEEN VERY COLD ALL THE TIME.  I NOW SLEEP UPSTAIRS SINCE IV'E BEEN SICK WITH A COLD.
I CAN'T SAY WHAT I'LL DO ABOUT THE FOXES WHEREEVER THEY ARE.
I'VE HAD TO KEEP THE CHICKENS IN THE HALF HOOPS COOPS AND THAT'S NOT GOOD.  I DO LET BIG DELORES AND HER GANG OUT FOR A BIT IN THE AFTERNOON JUST BEFORE DARK SOMETIMES WHEN I CAN KEEP AN EYE ON THINGS.

I THINK I'VE KILLED ALL THE SQUIRRELS. I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF LATE.

I'VE CONSIDERED GUINEAS BUT AM JUST NOT SURE HOW I'D DEAL WITH THEM.

SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I'M AWAY. CAN'T SHUT UP.  BETCHA WISH MY FINGERS HAD A SORE THROAT TOO.  :lau

OH, ALMOST FORGOT.  MET TWO LADIES AT TSC TODAY, (IHAD TO GET FEED BAD) ONE LADY MOVED HERE FROM MO. AND I GAVE HER MY CARD WITH BYC ON THE BACK.
THE OTHER NEEDED AN UPDATE ON NY CHICKEN LOVERS THREAD. HOPE THEY DROP IN.

OKAY, TA, TA FOR NOW.  LOVE YA,

RANCHER

C. Rocks are good I think you did message me it has been so hectic here it is ridiculous I let them con me into taking on way too many classes this semester so work has been insane. I do know a pressure cooker isn't needed for a lot but I do love having it for I do need it for.

The coop has potential with a little work ...
You want 3 more boy ducks Right ?
Any one want 3 boy ducks? Mixed chaki Campbell
grandma if I was closer to you I would take them

If they were Magpies I'd think about it, but no thank you

I already have one to many drakes...

I am trying to get some work done today while the rain holds off. We have a lot to do in a short time before it starts getting to cold...which is coming very soon.

It has a few broken boards, but nothing that can't be fixed. It think that I'm going to paint all the bear boards too. As soon as we got it home DH started to gather stuff to work on it. (wood on the ground and leaning up against it) I think secretly he is excited to have a project to do. He walked around it studying it. He said that he can make me more. I told him that if we were going to make more that I wanted them taller so that I could walk in them. He has started planning already

...I told him that he had to make a bigger one in the spring for some TURKEYS!!!!

Not to bad for FREE! Got to love it.

They used it for a tractor for some meat birds so there isn't any floor in the house part. DH is working on a plan for putting a floor in it so it is a little safer for my ducks and gets them off of the ground. The open part also needs some work. They just have a blanket that they hung up. I may want to close it up a little more. Not sure if I should put a door on it there to lock them in at night. We are planning on making it bigger and going to put a door in the side of the run so I can open it up for access to the food and water. If that is secure will I need a door to lock them in the house part? You don't have other houses in a hoop coop so I should be fine right? I have to pull off the chicken wire that is on it so we can fix the broken boards. Going to get some hardware cloth to put on it to make it more secure. We also have to make the door in the back bigger so that I can get in to clean it and get the eggs. Going to get something to put on the one side to help block some of the wind and snow for winter, maybe a little over the top...So excited that my ducks will have some more room..and I will have some more room for some more ducks!!!

My motto is "for free I take, for buy I look".

I'm sure whatever you do it will turn out nice. Congrats.

What are your favorite NY Poultry Swap pages on Facebook? I'm looking for some others to peruse.
Sloansville Small Animal & Poultry Swap has been good as has Mohawk Valley Poultry Swap. Have gotten some great stuff cheap on these! (Plus went to my first poultry swap--was fun!).
