Do you have a food bank/pantry or other charitable organization that could use the eggs? Or making holiday cookie baskets for families? I know during summer when we were getting overrun with eggs, hubby would give a dozen to a co-worker that always helped him out. Or I would give a dozen to my co-worker who always shared her leftovers from her Farmers Market. But hubby and I have both agreed, next summer we are making/freezing any egg based thing we can. We are short on eggs this winter, had to cut down to 1 doz a week for sale. Where are you located? I'm getting an egg turner for Christmas and will be itching to test it. Not enough of my own eggs to spare. I'm in Cortland County.

R -I've given this some thought too. I don't have a pick up, but thought if I threw a rope over it near the end and then had someone cut it I could pull it so it cleared the coop.

GR-I think this would work ..I thought if you threw a rope over it , put it around a tree in the back i and then pulled it towards the back ..so it cleared the coop.
Make sure you are in front of it so it doesnt get you instead

The rope ideas sound good, a couple of ropes might be even better, one at the far end and one closer to the fence end. It can be difficult to get the rope over the high end, we practice this for Chair lift evacuation, and it always looks like a comedy routine. Whatever, it is not a one man job. Or even a one wench job.

Nope, colored is good! I prefer to hatch the eggs because I can sex them, so then I sell any extras right away and don't have to wait to see what they turn out to be, lol.
