NY chicken lover!!!!

Hey all - not sure what is a rumor - what is not ...

So just putting this out there - heard chickenstock may be in NH this year but the host can't do it now ....

I live just over the border in VT - so closer than NH - and I have the room if no one else is slated as host ....    so whoever sets this - let me know .....

Ok I was thinking if hosting the chicken stock too. Have plenty of parking own 149 acres people could camp out if you wanted and am in NY

Well now if you come this way and want to deliver a load of layer feed then I might be interested.  Would you like to PM me with a price?  You're about an hour away from me.

I'm at a quandary in deciding what to do. DW will be retiring and we're talking trips south for a month or two.  Who to take care of the chickens while we're away. I can't see not having ANY chickens, but I'll still need someone here to care for them.
Rancher I will be out in Syracuse on Friday at the mall not sure how far you are from there

Nutty - you could be racking in the sales of feed if you had it at your place !!!! and it would save you hauling it around .... I know I will get multiple bags at your good price !

I'm not far from there at all and could meet you there is need be. What would be your limit to bring it?

As far as Chickenstock is concerned I'm fine with it, but perhaps Tab and Travis want to do it again? Wouldn't want to step on their toes or make them think we don't appreciate them. Though they may not be interested at all.

That is a good price. You could take orders before hand. How long does it stay fresh and what is the protein level?

JJ's has feed and their price is good but not worth my drive. Though with gas prices it might be now. I do need to make a drive up to them for DE.

Cold this AM. Waterers frozen solid. Though to be fair I didn't break them all out yesterday just added hot water. My DD's had that hoarders show on last evening. Gave me nightmares. Made me consider getting up and cleaning coops and getting rid of all the chickens. This has been the messiest fall and winter for me. Garage is horrible. Yard gets real muddy and stinky. I'm not sure I can take it.

I can talk hubby into driving hours for poultry shows. I don't think I can get him to agree to chickenstock though =( I'll have to see what the details are.

I'm still working on a WNY one though. Gonna contact TSC in Dunkirk AGAIN and see if I can actually connect with the manager - January is SLOW time for them.

Well I know I talked to the TSC near me and was told they would be glad to let us use their back lot for a chicken thing. If would of course mean bathrooms, but also lugging bbq's or other stuff.

Point being that might work for you.

Tab told me they wont do it this year ...They have to get the place ready for it ...she did nt want to do it 2 years in a row .

Since they're not going to host, the Nutty is the front runner.

DW got one of those big heavy pots for her birthday/christmas and she has been cooking in it a lot. Every time she can. Thing weighs like a ton. Like this one only hers is white. Good thing we have a freezer for the leftovers. Stew last night.

Brrrrr!!! Have only been a chicken owner since August and this is the coldest night here near Albany, NY since owning them.
Have listened to everyone on here and have not heated the coop. So far, so good. All are active, happy, and still laying. Fingers crossed they're all OK tonight!!

Best way to get chickens laying again? Buy a dozen store eggs. I needed eggs for baking last night, so bought some at the store yesterday. Got 6 eggs from my slackers last night, 2 being the GLW/wellie pullets first eggs! Of course most were frozen and broke, so not sale-able, but at least it is better than 1 egg from 20 chickens the day before.
