NY chicken lover!!!!

I haven't posted here in ages, but now that it's finally nice out again I have chickens on the brain! I have a mixed flock of Ameraucanas and Black Copper Marans and I would love to hatch a few chicks to ensure my flock for next year- I'm not quite feeling up to tackling another DIY project at the moment, nor do I really want to go out and buy a new incubator/egg turner. I had heard that the Cornell Cooperative Extension occasionally loans out incubators? Has anyone done this or is there anyone who might have more info? I've been looking around at their website and Googling, but my Google-fu has failed me. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

We had a visitor at our house today .
Chicken alarm went off ...Im looking around to see what Bobby / others are fussing about ..
No sign of anything ...so I go over to where they are looking ...
Chickens are either running away from it or wanting to attack it
A small woodchuck is wandering in our yard .So cute ...stubby little legs ..short little tail

Doesnt seem to know where it is going ..so I pick it up ..
By the back of the head thinking it may bite ..it is about the size of my 2 hands ..
It acts cold & has a sniffly / runny nose .
We have 2 wood chuck holes behind our house .
I put him in one of them he crawls right back out ..to me ...Im oh no hes bonded to me ..
I pick it up it ..it just sets on my hand..I have Gloves on
So I Go to the other hole ..put it down in it ...he hesitates then go down the hole ..
I hear this terrible growling ...Im calling the baby ...come back baby come back..
Then it stops ....no screams from the baby like it is being attacked ..
Then I hear little sweet mmu mu muu sounds ..I think Mom Recognized it & was comforting it

Well I came home from the NH chickenstock with 6 dozen eggs (2 of them mine though). DH fired up the frigabator this morning because it's the only bator big enough to fit them all. He kept telling me we need another breed like a hole in the head, insert sinister giggle here.

I'm going to get the girls outside today and check out my gardens. Hopefully the raspberries are sending new shoots, rhubarb should be doing something, asparagus too, and I planted greens a couple weeks ago. I picked up broccoli and cauliflower packs friday too. Yay for sunshine!

Someone here, wanted SEbastabol goslings....I don't remember who, but I have 2 that are 3 weeks old available. White. $65 each. Both had female gray markings, but that isn't always 100% accurate, straight run.

What a freaking lovely day!!! :) I'm in love with this nicer weather!!

I kicked the meaties outside yesterday, they survived there fist night without heat. They seem happy to be out of the brooder ... More space sunshine, grass, bugs... The chicken life!

Speaking of brooders. Mine is over run with black orpingtons (May be split to lavender) and a couple blue chicks if anyone is interested!

I am interested are you coming to chickenstock if not where are you located

Metella, ALL of your ABs hatched yesterday while I was away, which means all except the one egg that quit out of the whole batch! You'll have to come get them soon so they can go in with your other chicks. Right now they are rooming with the cochin, polish, and welsummer chicks I picked up yesterday.
