NY chicken lover!!!!

Well I had a Hen die last night ...Doggie ....She was a hatchery comet ..3 years old
She had a sour crop & green diarrhea..and her comb fell down to the side ...I tried different things ..I think it was her time to pass .
She was never a real friendly hen ...
she was a chicken that never let me pick her up very much ...
When she was a pullet ...she never wanted to got to bed ....I always had to chase her in ...around & around the coop ...until we got a Rooster
but when she got sick she became a real sweet heart and let me cuddle her .

This is 2 of my young hens trying to figure why she is in a cage down cellar ..at snack time
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad she let you be there in the end.

Gramma, sorry about your hen :hugs

The cemanis are teasing me, The laid six eggs and have now stopped again :barnie Well, I guess six is better than none. Time to get the run done and see if that persuades them to lay more. Plus a higher protein feed too - I think I'll put them on flock raiser.

I've got Metella's first grandchick from Colo running around in my incubator! He is cuddling with the other eggs and telling them to hurry up, he wants a friend. He is healthy and energetic and all over the place. I am so sold on hatching in a still air incubator. I had been using forced air but the fan died and I ordered a new one but it wasn't arriving in time, so these eggs I had to hatch still air. The humidity got higher and stayed higher without me having to add water like I always do with forced air, plus no really loud fan. I'll still incubate forced air, but from here on out I think all hatching will be done still air.

Hi I'm in WNY. chautauqua county...not many chicken sellers around that I have found. I started last year with RiR, bR, and my roo light brahma. I acquired 2silkies, 3cream leg bars and 5 ISA brown chicks. I've never heard of the Isa brown but they were a gift my daughter received... I'm hoping to add Orpington and Wyandotte.[/quot
Hi! Over here in Cattaraugus county. I raise bantam Cochin and have a bunch of chicks if you're looking to add small and puffy to your flock.

I have orpingtons. If they'd start laying again.....

I also have bantam Wyandottes, white rocks, white / partridge rock crosses, Orpington / rock crosses, Orpington / cinnamon queen crosses, and a few assorted Heinz 57s.
I also have Swedish and Swedish/runner duck eggs
I'm in falconer.

On a totally different note.... My daughter had her first successful bunny breeding.
