NY chicken lover!!!!

Oh Pharkus, I am imagining Rancher going through security, and having them scan his carry on luggage, and finding strange, suspicious oval objects, lots of them. Rancher, you'll be headed to the back room for sure. Better get to the airport very early.

Sort of sounds like you guys are getting the thunder storm to. It's actually raining here right now with thunder. I've heard there's a severe thunder storm warning for NY. Anyways how's all your chickens doing?

The Poultry Hatchery

4301 Ridge Road PO BOX 128 Seneca Falls , New York 13148 (315) 257-9100 Website That is where I got my first chickens. My experience was very good. I got EE, dark and light Brahamas, Amber links, and Australorps from them. The only negative was the extra fees they tack on to the order that they say are universal with the industry. Now that I have more experience I would not buy from a hatchery unless I could not find what I was looking for elsewhere. If you want specific breeds it is best to buy from an individual that is specific for that breed. You will get much better quality birds. If you want production birds that will give you lots of brown or white eggs you can find them in the spring at tractor supply or Runnings. If you can make it to chickenstock you will be able to fill your coop with some wonderful local birds that will lay a rainbow of colors.
Glad to hear uv had a good experience w the poultry hatchery. Hopefully they've made an effort to improve their customer service. Or maybe they were just having a bad day when I delt w them. I agree finding a breeder is the best option. Better for the birds too. Yay for chicken stock!

Greetings!

I live in orange county of the Hudson Valley area. :)
I'm looking to buy two companion chickens for my sizable garden yard. Would anyone be kind to let me know of places in the Hudson valley area in Orange that sells live chickens? I'll also be taking a trip to Manhattan this month (or next), and if anyone knows of chicken sellers/places there too I would greatly appreciate it.

Folks, what temperature (overnight) would it be ok to put chicks outside at night, without a heat lamp? I'm talking 5 week old chicks.
