NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice, everyone. Horsekeeper, I really admire your coops. It's been rainy and cloudy here for the past two days and I feel down in the dumps. Haven't done anything much outside, and my poor chicks are still getting shuttled back and forth in a cage; from the shed to a makeshift mesh half hoop shaped run, then back in the cage in the shed at night. My two red star hens attack them when they get the chance, so I won't be keeping them together. Very difficult in a tiny backyard. Too bad I couldn't keep them in my moms yard like I had originally planned. Tomorrow should be partly sunny, so maybe I can go get my pallets.

Devona, is there a way you can keep the chicks around so the hens can see them but not get to them? I think them constantly seeing them would help them get used to each other. I know it's difficult in a tiny yard... I will be facing the same issue later this spring.

Is anyone looking to buy some chicks? I bought some BI/BCM eggs and have 5 chicks that are a week old. They were sold as olive eggers and they all hatched black. I needed blues. So, if you are interested I will sell them all for $20.





I also have some silkies -their Momma is sizzled and I will have some speckled sussex that are not SOP but they come from some serious layers that I can part with.

I have hatching eggses from 3 Lavender and 2 Blue EE hens covered by a split rooster. His father was lavender Ameraucana so I figure the odds would be good you'd get some blues and lavender Ee's. Eggses are free if you come and get them. I'm near posting them all on CL, for $10 each, so if you want eggs let me know.

Yes, I'm always able to help out when they're away. I want them to have chickens so I can use their property to support my chickenitis! !

You could use my property.

Plus I have a garden.

@ Everyone, I'm not depressed per se', just tired. It's foggy here and been rainy. Rainy days and Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, etc. etc. get me down.

Oh and snow days too. Actually if the sun is shining snow isn't too bad.

Yesterday was my volunteer day and there were only three of us! One to wash the dishes, Me, ( not something I like, sets my back off) One to take the money, and One to serve the food. It wasn't quite as bad as it could have been.

You know how it goes, lots of stuff breaks at once. The cars engine light is on, the oven isn't working, the furnace quit, ( fixed for $177) I figure I can fix the car IF what the autozone told me is wrong is true. The inspection is up too, so it has to be fixed and I hate getting hit for a huge repair bill. I just don't know if I should risk it. The part is $42.

@Beer Can, yes it is love but, "Even a bad love is NOT better than no love". Get it?

I'll let you think about it for a bit.

I did mention you possibly downsizing, but she isn't a BYC member so was not able to message you here. If you want to send me your personal info, I can pass it along to her. She has a small petting zoo that travels to birthday parties and gives riding lessons at her stables, so they would be well cared for.
