Yes, shodack, in the daytime they're in a mesh enclosure in the backyard, where the hens walk around, and if the chicks stick their heads out, and a hen is close by, it gets pecked. And a couple of times when I was transferring them to their night cage, one escaped, and got chased and pecked. At night they sleep in the same shed, just that the chicks are in a cage within the shed, and the hens sleep right next to them. Hopefully in time, they will sort things out.

The last two mornings I've been seeing blood in the chicks cage. Yesterday I thought maybe one of them got pecked on, but I couldn't see any wounds. Today I realized the blood was in the poop ( I managed to see it before it got trampled). So now I'm worried about who's pooping blood, and why.

First thing that pops to my mind is intestinal shed or coccoidosis...Check the poop threads.

Where is our apron maker on here??? I know someone had some at the last Chickenstock. I need one made for my short stalky chubby little frame that has little pockets in it for eggs. SO, I can go out in my yard and stick eggs in my apron vest...kinda like a fishing vest for eggs...

The Queen's have come to town...LOL...My Queen Silvia shipment arrived today- all alive & 3 cute isbars hitching a ride with them. I don't know why they have guaranteed one day shipping and it takes two...WTheck. Well, I placed my very first hatchery order with McMuray and they shipped monday- 3 day shipping, I am expecting a dead box of chicks...Not to mention they are lost somewhere in St Louis.

This is what the lil buggers will look like when grown:

What cuties @Purpletie3 let me know how McMurray is. Before my ideal poultry box of dying chicks, I had all good luck ordering through Meyer.
Thanks, they are funny looking. I will have to get a clearer pic of them. I will let you know. They were sent Monday and shipped 3 day...Who ships chicks on 3 day???

Cute chicks purple tie, and thanks for the info
Thanks, and I hope you figure it out sooner than later if it is coccoidosis. I lost several when I saw it the first time and didn't know until they were shooting blood everywhere. I just hadn't seen it before and didn't know what I was looking at. Good luck.
