NY chicken lover!!!!

My chicks from GFF arrived today, all alive and doing well so far. I got 8 barbezieux, 3 Gold East Frisian gulls, 2 marsh Daisies, and 5 twentse's. I also have blue/gold partridge brahma eggs going into lockdown tomorrow. I'm very happy with the Barbezieux but not sure if I will be keeping all the others. I also ordered welsh harlequin duck eggs, that was before I saw the recent post of the buff Orpington ducks.

The last two mornings I've been seeing blood in the chicks cage. Yesterday I thought maybe one of them got pecked on, but I couldn't see any wounds. Today I realized the blood was in the poop ( I managed to see it before it got trampled). So now I'm worried about who's pooping blood, and why.

If you're raising them separate you might try to start out with some medicated chick starter. I generally give it to them for about one bags worth, then give them non.

I didn't know you wanted Daisies. I have a chick here, plus the parents. Got them from Chickenstock. They're very friendly. They also understand English. They know my voice and come when I call. Very nice breed.

Forgot to ask. How many here use Paypal? I do and like it, but am surprised at the companies that do not. It's a pain to have to pull out the credit card to order. I hope they read this and get on board.

I will pull it out to order some seeds I want, though I've plenty now. I've got seeds dated 2014 coming up. Might have checked before buying new for some of them. Tomatoes, Okra, Zinnia, Hollyhocks are doing great.

Anyhow once the chickens are gone I'll still stop in. Never know when things will change and I start again. Though I'm not likely to find the breeds I have.

It's not that I really wanted them it's just what they sent in the rare assortment. Good to know you like the breed.

what breed are the brown ones with the darker brown stripe? They are cute.

Anyone want to get an egg swap going?  I'm in the Albany area.. would prefer to swap locally, but can ship. 

if you can travel to Harpursville on May 28th we are getting together for a chicken, chick, egg, vegetable plant, and you name it swap. No fee to come just bring a dish to pass.

Aren't they kinda too old for that now? They're about twelve weeks already.
