NY chicken lover!!!!

You might get more interest if you post the breed. There are couple people here who breed some breeds of feather legged bantams and might be interested in new blood for their flock.

He is a 3 week old buff brahma bantam feather foot.

Lol! This is very early for me, my rabbit woke me up and now I can't fall back asleep.

DW woke me up yesterday I think at 4. The chickens are going crazy out there she says. I go out and it's my EE roosters who screeches and gets his girls worked up. The birds chirping and all that. I go out in my pj's and say "shut up" and they do. Not a peep for a while. This is why I say your birds trust you. You give them comfort.

Other news.

The fire trucks just went by. Lord have mercy.

Two more chicks moved to the Delwares in the half hoop. One I wasn't sure would make it this long. The hen who had it just seemed uninterested and it got cold. So I moved it to another hen who had a chick already. Time will tell if it makes it or not.

The original hen has peeping going on. I think she might be upset with my poking around. I hope she hatches at least two and I'll move her to the half hoop.

Out of curiosity, at three weeks old how do you know he is a cockerel? That is very early to tell the sex, especially with brahmas as they have pea combs.
I agree three weeks is early to sex a Brahma. With my EE's I have to wait a bit longer. Of course if you're going to breed them you have to keep them for a while to see how they turn out. Might take months, before you get an idea of how good or bad he is.

Now if you have EE's you can always toss him in the mix for a deeper gene pool. Might do a nice cross with a frizzle too as they're a "soft feather" breed are they not?

I have a new frizzle with a Delaware pattern hen. DD's fiancee is calling her Cotton Candy. OY!! I hate when they name them because they're hard to give up.

I intend to put her in with the EE's and see how that goes. I have a few Lavender and Blue chicks. One must be Big Delores' because it's not quite Lavender. Kinda bluish yellow.

TTFN,

Have a nice day.

I'm new to this so they might be older. The person I got them from told me they were 3 weeks and one was rooster and one was hen.

He is a cockerel, and much older than three weeks. He is also not a brahma, but a mille fleur d'uccle, which actually a couple people in here breed so they may be interested in new blood for their flocks :)

Ok. Thank you very much for the info. I really appreciate it. How old they look to you?

Sorry to hear about the rough hatch. You still have another incubator going, right?
I just started another round today. I also found out Mojo makes for beautiful babies but they have his feet. I made sure to mark his eggs, which was easy since it's just him and Girlie that mate in that coop. I think part of the lousy hatch problem for me is where the bator is. Jon has me set up in the mud room which is very high traffic and drafty. So this time I made a big box in the barn and put my bator in that. Seems to hold temp good and it's not drafty.

He looks at least 4 months old if not 6 months old to me .... you will find the D'Uccle roos are very sweet if they were bred well - mine were always so gentle - so you may turn out to really like him .... he is definately a Millie Flur D'Uccle .... adorable. The Millie FD hen will lay you lots of small but perfect eggs.

Wow, he's a lot older than I was told. He is an adorable little guy. Im afraid his crowing will attract negative attention from neighbors and I'll be forced to get rid of all of them.
