NY chicken lover!!!!

He died early this morning. I don’t understand. No bloat, not hypothermic, was eating, drinking and pooping. I just don’t know.

Oh no :( I'm so sorry.

How are your emus dealing with the cold? Mine seem okay, but I might give them a heat lamp (very carefully secured) to encourage them to sleep in the barn at night and not out in the snow.

My emus have been sleeping in the shed but the female seems to shiver quite a bit. Suppose to warm up but I think we are gonna rig a lamp up too for night time.

Yep, I saw mine shivering a bit today too. I feel bad since even though they're big, they're still really only babies. I'm gonna put a heat lamp up tonight. Very carefully, with chain, and done so that if it does manage to fall, it'll just unplug itself. No fires here, thank you.

Premier1supplies sells an awesome heatlamp that I have used and proven safe. It’s made of plastic, hangs from a chain and clip, and doesn’t get super burning hot to the touch. Check em out! Highly recommend them.

I'll check it out, thanks! I like Premier1, I use their heat plates for brooding chicks.
