Recently saw a listing on Craigs for DE. $50 for 20 pounds. I ordered 50 pounds for $43 including shipping and had it delivered to my door. DON'T DO IT! Order it.

How far would you drive for chicks or chickens? What breeds would you drive to get? What breeds would you like to be able to get but can't? That you don't want to get from a hatchery?

How do you use it..does it control mites in chickens too? I know you need to worm chickens. I just wasn't sure what to use. Can you tell me where you get yours. Thanks.

Please be aware there are two types. Food Grade is what you'd use for your chickens. Any other kind is not safe. Remember if it doesn't say "FOOD GRADE" on the label don't buy it.

Thanks for bringing up that point about there being 2 different kinds of DE, rancher hicks!!! One kind is used in pool filters, I think....definitely what NOT to feed to or dust your chickens with. It must say "Food Grade". You can buy it in some feed stores....or online....price around to get the best possible deal. I simply lightly dust my chickens with it once in a while, being careful to avoid their face. I believe some people also put it in their food.
