Did you have to contact the town at all before you got your chickens? I'm going to be doing that today. Not sure what any rules would be but I'm sure I won't have problems. I have more animal neighbors than human neighbors. LOL

I didn't ask I just got them... I am nice every once in awhile I give my neighbors eggs to eat. lol

Lynzi--glad you found your silkies. I will warn you that they are highly addictive and exert mind control over everyone they come into contact with. This usually takes the form of getting treats, getting picked up and held and petted and getting let out to play. I swear mine practice every night so they can do it to me first thing in the am!

Hen--us pharm animals have to stick together!

Soaked Elanors feet again today and they look pretty good. Left the bandages off but will continue to soak and inspect them until I am sure they are well healed. Everyone got to come out for a while even though it was a cold wind and I almost froze. I hope we dont get any snow, just rain. Going to the tailgate meet at tsc on sunday. I have my list of stuff I need for the newbies. Going to stop and get stuff for the new coop as well. Now we really have to get moving on it! I must be strong and resist temptation while at tsc and the tailgate. I have no room for more cheeps...well, maybe 1 or 2...

Two silkies have hatched so far, hopefully more will hatch too, i'm soooo very bad at hatching! Of course now I am wondering if I can stick them in with the Cream Legbars and the Ameraucanas, I hate to have to set up yet another brooder!

My husband says to me yesterday Oh, one of your silkies is either dead or sitting on eggs... Yeah, its sitting on eggs. Not sure if they'll hatch, its been awfully cold and she made the nest on the ground, of course.

Anyone need an Ameraucana Roo? I have two extra blacks, and two EE Roos too! Thats in addition to the two "spare" Black Roosters I am keeping!

Fingers crossed for a safe trip for my Choc Orps! What's the earliest I can use the Roos? I need to PU some black hens though. And build another pen...

Bring them back? I'd call and ask if you can exchange them... Or you can just raise them and eat them!

Sell them on Craig's list for what you paid and go buy some replacement layers. I am pretty sure that TSC is prohibited by law from accepting returns on chicks. You *might* be able to get the manager to give you replacements for free if you know who gave you the wrong information.

You are NOT going to believe this.... I have a PIP in one of eggs in my $18 incubator....one of the eggs that the cat knocked out of the 'bator and was on the floor for I don't know how long at about day 10. I put them back in when I found them and let them go for another 11 days. Well, it's day 22 and I have a PIP!!!! I don't know if the chick is gonna make it....it's always a cr*p shoot when it comes to hatching eggs.

I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight....I Soooo hope I have a chick by morning. Would be even better if the second egg hatched so I am not raising a lone chick.


Night to all who can sleep. Gotta go bring a chick in from the brooder to cheep at the egg and encourage it.
