Hello AmyJ!!!!
After that way toooo long, stormy winter we had, you'll NEVER hear me complaining about the heat(smile)!!! As long as I pace myself and keep the flock as comfortable as possible, bring on the Summer!!!
Kathy

I can always turn on the a/c or take off more clothes. Just not to many, scares the hens and they don't lay. Have ya ever heard a rooster laugh? Or go to the pool, spray yourself or you DW with the hose. Course she does get madder than a wet hen.

I dont' have to shovel heat. Sides my wife works in a hospital the morgue is always cool. Ok to far with the humor I know, sorry. I do have to say that no one ever tells me to shut up. But then they never laugh at my jokes either. O tay I'll stop

Thank goodness the temps are going to break, I have like 12 does I need to breed! And sooo many chores to do it isn't funny! I've been doing a little every day, but its just too dang hot to shovel poop! None of the rabbits/chickens are thrilled with the heat, and darn it, I keep forgetting to feed/water the one Roo. I've got him in a single cage til I get stuff gone, I have to go back out because of course, I forgot to feed him. I need to sell a Quad of Buff Silkies so I can move the splits to their pen, then the BBS Ameraucanas can go in the other pen. For some reason, I don't think my husband would put up another pen?

I really could use two or three, so maybe if I ask for three and make him do one, he'll be okay with it?

I even figured out what some of those Mystery Chicks I hatched were, White Australorps. Here I thought they only came in Black... I counted the eggs after I hatched, then when I counted black chicks, I was short three and went hmmm, I wonder where they are? Who knew?

None of my duck eggs hatched.

And most of the eggs that were under the ducks are gone, I think I will pull the last of them tomorrow and stick them in the bator, I guess they crushed and ate them? Bummer. My Silkie Broody is still sitting but now she is on like week old eggs (hers didn't hatch) I'm debating about putting those in the bator, since won't she quit at some point? Ditto for the Ameraucana hen, still sitting on icky eggs, bleh.

you too!!!

Hello!!!!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!! Yes.....it's the unofficial start of Summer.....but I always take time to pay homage to our servicemen and servicewomen who sacrificed for our country and served it well.
I went to the tailgate sale in Highland today. Had a lot of fun(and it actually didn't rain this time...smile). Saw a lot of friends there....and made some new acquaintances....a great day!!! I sold 4 ducks and have more people interested. I went there saying I WASN"T GOING TO BUY ANYTHING.....yea, right. Below are 3 of the 9 chicks I came home with. These are Buff Wyandottes from Barry Koffler.....I've wanted some for a while. I also bought 6 GL Polish chicks from Barry....they weren't sitting still for a pic...maybe tomorrow.
Have fun everyone.......and please be safe!!!!!

I was just thinking (dangerous I know), but is anyone interested in a Syracuse, chickenstock next year? Just trying to find out, before I put any effort into it. Never had one but who knows? Depending on how much interest there is will determine the venue. I would like it to be more than just a chicken sale and trade type thing. Let me know folks by the end of June. You can send me an e-mail or pm with your contact information.

Wishing you all the best.

Happy Memorial day, Veterans thank you for my freedom.

Rancher.
