NY chicken lover!!!!

I suppose it's because they are frizzles crossed with Silkies that you might think it strange I would say yes. Knowing how I feel about Silkies.

However, in the summer I wash the waterers right outside with the hose, but I have to keep a baby bottle brush and another brush with dish soap in it hanging nearby. You know how they get green inside and yuk.

Well if I have some Sizzles running around the yard I could just grab one of them and use THEM to clean the waterers. Foshizzle my wazizzles.

Evening all! Hope everyone is battened down for the coming mess of tomorrow. I have to work of course. Gave the big cheeps the leftovers this morning and opened up a can of corn and one of green beans (unsalted) and mixed them up and gave them to the silkies. Everything was eaten when I got back from work today. I freshened up the terrorist coop and everyone got their food and water loaded up so they can stay in tomorrow. I have to leave so early that it is better to keep them cooped then worry about them while I am at work. I am getting my new silkie girl this week! Cant wait to see her!

ag29ande--sorry to hear of your loss. Everything is looking for food right now.

Rancher--as usual, nice pics of your coops.

Be well everyone!
pharm, Thanks for sharing your veggie treats for the Silkies. I gave mine
a large bowl of cut up mixed greens. Asked the Produce Manager and he
gave me a large bag. He asked when I needed more to ask a day before.

That means I will have fresh greens all WINTER.

Rancher: NEAT COOP

Ah Stony--good eats and a side job at the same time! Looking forward to doing the same here come spring.

Hen--same here except I have 2 big boys and 5 banty boys. Only Olaf and Little Man crow in the am as they are the top roos of the acreage. Otherwise the boys are pretty quiet and get along okay.

Is there anything a rir wont eat:? I swear that whatever I put out there, even if I think they will not eat it, they do. My diva big girls are picky, my silkies are picky but these rir's eat anything that isnt nailed down! At least they are laying really well.

Anyone interested in some silkie boys? I have 3 for sale! Nice boys. PM me if you think you might want them, either now or later.
pharm: The 5 black and blue Silkies I purchased...turned to be 3 hens and 2 Roosters.
Would have prefered to have one of yours,. But now 2 roosters is more than enough.

Husband "threw down greens" and our Silkies did NOT eat them. I took a large plastic bowl
chopped the mixed greens the our Silkies enptyed the bowl. Now ready for more. They are
elegant. Rancher, no bad comments about our Silkies ha ha.

Hi Aria,

just wondering: does the Produce Mgr. give you a discounted price on older veggies? Or is he nice enough to provide them free? I never thought to check with our local store(s).

Thx,

Quote: TOB, This is the Super Market I shop weekly. The veggies are the outer leaves (PERFECT)good enough for us. And FREE. I got this idea from Rancher. He talked about getting whole grain bread from the local bakery. And that is FREE too. Not white bread, whole grains.

I think if you are a regular shopper....this works. Aria

Well...thanks for the great tips! I spend more than enough time (and $$) in a couple of local grocery stores. It's worth asking, anyway.
