NY chicken lover!!!!

Morning!
I'm sitting here counting down the days (11 more week days) until I done with this awful job! We are quality checking the people over seas taking over this project and they are just not getting it. I feel sorry for who ever have has to deal with all their mistakes when we're gone! I've been there before and its not pretty. Anywho...

So Miquwid ~ Do you think I'd be better off rehoming one of the drakes and sticking to the two ducks and one drake? This is what I'm thinking I may have to do, but also wondered what the chances were of everyone living in harmony. I've thought about hoop coops but I really need something that can easily be moved for that day that comes where we DO have to move. That got pushed back by the way but thats a whole 'nother story! DH isn't too happy.

My one drake that showed signs of being a male early on seems to be going thru another "molt" and his lighter feathers are coming in and also his head has some of those shiny green feathers. I think he is going to turn out to be quite stunning. I'm excited to see him as a full grown adult.

I do I'll let you know later.  Names Faith.

New chick born, this one a Lavender. Not sure but I think it may be an Orp.  Green egg was squashed with chick poor thing that makes two out of five that didn't survive the hatch. Don't know why. One more green egg to go.

Plan to unload a lot of roos. Even my CR, in hopes that in spring I can get some eggs to hatch.  Plus there are more than a few BM's.  Only one a keeper this time out. And I've decided to get rid of my Lavender Amer roo too.

Gotta run.

Rancher if that Lavender Amer roo is pure and not mean I would be interested in him I have some females amer I would love to mate him with.

Wow, so much to keep up with.
I went back to work Monday

3 months of being off just wasn't for me anymore.

Glass, keep the coyote up there, I don't want him

Lynzi, I love 'em

I'm in total agreement about Nature Berry. That's where our frizzles came from and are doing great.

I haven't candled any eggs yet, probably tomorrow. Hopefully in 3 wks we'll have some more silkies running around.
Guess I'll go back though the last few days of the thread and see what I missed.

Chris
Thanks for the Nature Berry suggestion guys! I've seen them, but had no idea what their reputation was. I'll check it out. Thanks again!

Ke, glad to hear you are good to go back to work! The coyote was headed down hill, so if he follows the stream, he could find you. But, I'm hoping he has trouble crossing the roads, Apulia and Rt 20 have taken care of lots of potential problems for me.

Lynzi, good to hear that you may be around for a while. My experience is to not put too much faith in stated timelines, they are quite elastic.

Well, got lots to do, inside and out.

Dh seems to not be adverse to me getting a gun...so after I dither for a while, that might happen.

Funny I was about to come on here a little bit ago and post how Stella is still not laying eggs. It's been 2 months since she hatched those chicks and still no eggs from her. At this point I was sure the BR and Buff Orp were the only ones laying. Well I just went out to the nest box and found a third egg for today!

I am so glad that mystery is over! all 3 of my bigger girls are back to laying. I know at least my 6 incubator eggs are 1 silkie 1 BRxBO and 4 BOs. Fingers crossed they hatch!

1 week down, 2 more to go.

He's not mean at all. In fact he's out in the yard with the Del rooster and they're fine. He was in the Orp coop with two blk orp roos and a CR roo. I had a hard time getting him to make the change to his own coop. Him and his three girls. Now he's with a bunch of his daughters.

The plan is to get a new Amer roos. I most likely will have to order eggs. This guy came from Chickenstalker in PA. Most of his daughter and sons are black , but then the hens are EE's and not lavender. I do have one hen that is lavender. I'm not sure how I got her or who her mother is. I only had the two EE's.
