NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks, everyone! I did not know about the luring, but seeing the second one, that seems like it may have been the case today. The coyote looked like it was claiming rhe territory, and not worried by Coda being there.

I'll share your responses with. DH, and we may take that big step. I would like those things to disappear from our area.

We have a pack that runs the swamp by our house. Dh saw them one day while he was out hunting down in there. They like to run the deer through there. My brother had a nice buck run by his stand a few years back with a pack hot on its heels. No time to even get a shot off before they were gone. This was up on the tug hill plateau. My father got one once when he was hunting and a pack of 4 ran by him. Coyotes are very smart and very elusive, which is why they can survive in almost any environment. I have seen single coyotes lots of times over the years but have heard our pack many times in the swamp.

Flow is looking very good despite her injuries but will not venture near the big girls coop. We will move Bill and the two red girls into the terrorist coop tonight and put flow back in with her sisters. She is afraid that Roger is still there so I am hoping once she realizes the boys are not there any more she will stop being afraid. Roger is currently enjoying the crock pot hot tub and at his request I added some soothing herbs and spices to help him relax. Now, what would he like to go with him for dinner?

okay it seems there is some coyote trouble and I hope everyone can get that taken care of um yes I know the shooting it is probably the best way to do it. unfortunately where I'm at my biggest predator are humans first um cats second, raccoons 3rd, dogs forth. I know there are hawks and other flying predators. My neighbors dog is great at killing small animals so most are not able to get over or under the fence. My dogs have chased the giant raccoon away but I'm putting out the trap anyway. I guess we should get a BB gun, any suggestions on keeping skunks away? no issues now but many signs of them when we first moved in.

Hahaha Jlaw, don't you know it's pulling teeth Some days getting him out of there!

Morning Everyone,
I'm in CT, missing my animals back home. I know the hubs is taking care of them but I worry when my eyes aren't there. :-/

Tab - get some rest girl! Take advantage of being served now. ;-)

Glass - I agree with everyone else, you gotta get a handle on this now before it gets worse. Get rid of those things before they lure more and more into your area. We hear a pack of them in the valley every night. Have never seen one in my yard or around my property. I assume like others have stated, that one has killed and is calling the others. The day I catch one in my yard is the day I buy myself a gun. ;-)

YUMMY !!!!!!!

Ke, thanks for the offer, but today I'm making so much noise and screwing up the environment pretty much, so today we wre pretty safe. Enjoy this threshold moment with your kid!

Gotta say this was the first time I've seen more than one. So there may have been a plot afoot.

Fence is on.

My poor Pullet...

This was yesterdays egg, No blood on today's egg. Is this usual of new layers? (under a month laying)

Bella omg I've never seen that much blood before, my girl is laying 3 oz once a week, I'm glad she's ok. Can't fit those big ones in the carton lol.

Poor girl! Yes, in my experience this is normal until their egg cycle becomes more 'regular'. I got both oversized eggs (double yolkers sometimes) and tiny eggs form my girls when they first started. Two+ years later, the eggs now vary a little bit in size but are much, much more consistent and seem to cause them no discomfort.

Hope everyone gets those coyotes. My electro netting is a comfort for me when we are gone. The foxes haven't crossed it.

Up near Albion camping and loving the area. Got a bushel of just picked peaches today for me to can when we get home tomorrow :)
