NY chicken lover!!!!

Lynzi, have you tried the one in Navarino? Rt 20 to the blinking light, turn rt there? I got some pumpkins there that had massive stems, who knows what is in the fields.

I just went to OCRRA for mulch and compost in my sons truck that I borrowed. It took 2 hrs to get 4 garbage cans full of mulch and some other big containers of compost into the truck. It is taking much longer to get them out. Grrrrrr. There is, of course work to be done before the mulch can be applied.

That's actually where I went this morning since I wanted to pick up some apples and corn from them. They were nice enough to let me take a look to see if I could find any. The guy seemed really nervous about me picking stems that were actually on the pumpkins. I told him I was only interested in the ones that had broken off or were on rotting/broken pumpkins. He let me go thru the field. I didn't have much time so I'll probably go back again tomorrow or next week.

I like them too, so much so that I have a late hatcher in my shirt right now until she's a little stronger and can go in with the others. Where'd you get your faverolles?
I just got one from Nature Berry Farms, funny everyone else in the area had nice puffs but me :-( She does have cool colors though

Normally she's a nice looking girl but molting does not suit her.

poor girl! When I went out today I noticed one of my barred rocks is in shambles. Feathers missing everywhere, poor thing. One of my roosters lost his entire tail and is growing it back. He looks ridiculous.

That's what happened to Gru, his entire tail was bare and he's slowly growing new feathers back. His neck is bad too, I really hope he starting filling in soon.

They are soo cute! I love my salmon faverolle I got this year. She is a real character but does get picked on by the rest of the flock(she was the one sold to me as a roo, then laid me an egg!)
If I ever focus on one breed they would be it, although it would be tough to give up the colored eggs from my EE's.
Sorry it's so blurry, no one would stop moving!

It's slow progress but my run is almost done!!! If I ever get home before it gets dark I might just get it finished this week!

Country Boy does have beautiful birds. I can tell he puts a lot of effort into his flock.

How are you holding that all together. I might just make one. Lord knows there are lots of branches around here. Will you be covering it with poultry wire or hardware cloth?

I skipped 4 pages... probably shouldn't have... but on the subject of EE's... I have so many. it's pretty unusual for them to lay before 26 weeks. more common between 28 - 30 weeks. and don't throw in the towel if it takes longer. it's worth the wait.
