NY chicken lover!!!!

Rancher i googled "hen draging rear" and came up with a rew threats on here. Could be egg bound or internal laying or infection. Depending on her other symptoms you can find out wich. Or. Give har warm bath and put olive oil on vet to try and help rule out bound egg. A youtube video i watched the other day lady held rear of hen over steaming bowl of water to try and relax vent.

Keep us posted.

I don't feel an egg in there. I believe she was on the roost this evening. Someone on anther thread suggested worms. Also that if egg bound she wouldn't feel hard. I will check her in the am.

Ours roosters annoy my son & husband more than they annoy me ...
I have a rhyme I say ..

Im a rooster ! And I know it !
And I just gotta Crow It Cock A doodle Dooo!

I think the samatra crow is cute ...sort of high pitched . If they crow alot ..I will sometimes talk to them ..
Like they are in the coop waiting to go out ...I will open the back door & say Good Morning boys ...& girls
They will crow if someone is missing ...from the flock ...Lucky calling her ..she is hidden in the hen house laying a egg .LOL
Or Skiddy will call his flock ....when he & his girl are playing house ...they get separated from them..at some point he remembers there are others
Sometimes I swear they are talking to each other ..they do answer each other
young one Skiddy is in the front yard ..he crows " Im out Front "
Lucky older one Crows in the back yard " you stay there "

Well leggy my leghorn thought she was funny. I checked for eggs earlier and she and a red was in 2 nest boxes. So I go out again and she's in there still. I rake the bedding under roosts some and keep eye balling her. She isn't moving not blinking don't look like she is breathing so I poke my head a little closer and she just goes off. Scared the **** out of me. That girl was already done laying she was just sitting on the egg. I wasn't too happy lol.

Nice I know how that goes with fiesty hens and their laying.

Back from the pumpkin patch field trip with the pre K. On to Nora's Dr appt next. Then chores, dinner, and hit the hay.

I hope your getting some rest.

I love this, when I first introduced my very young but super large jersey giant to the big girls she tried to hide under my faverolle it was great to see because all she could was just push her over into my wellie lol.
I went up to the coop this am and saw feathers EVERYWHERE. My first thought was oh no, something got in the coop, but there were no holes in the fencing, the doors were closed, everything was good. I do a head count, one of my EE's comes out and looks like she exploded all her feathers! No wonder I hadn't seen an egg from her in 10 days, poor girl is going through her molt!

I just finished blanching my brussel sprouts. Now I am enjoying watching my cat and dogs watch the chipmunk just outside the sliding glass door. I think the thing likes to taunt them and their reactions are funny.
LOL yeah I hear ya love the small attempts through the glass door everytime.

For the poultry show just tell me when and where I will be there. I got dreads down to my butt I will be easy to spot.

Stony, if the farming, furniture making, blog writing, musician thing doesn't work for you, you could cater...your meals look deliscious, well presented, even the table setting. Very appealing.

Dogs scoot on their rear when their anal glands are full. That is their way of releasing them.
I'm wondering if and where the gland that produces the bloom is located. If you don't think she is egg bound, maybe she has an impacted and now abscessed gland?

I am a super light sleeper too.  Wish I could be more like the hubby -- as soon as he's parallel, he's out and it's not easy to rouse him.  I have one kid that's a very light sleeper like me and my younger one is a good, heavy sleeper like Dad.

Now THAT is something I'd like to dig in to.   Mmmm-mmmm!  :drool

You are the King of the Grill.
