NY chicken lover!!!!

She says : All funding is gone... dried up. !

Speaking as someone in school right now, and the school sucks (they never applied the scholarship I won and forced me to pay thousands I didn't owe, they tricked my brother into signing a dorm contract for a year and not a semester and refuse to let him break contract even though someone else is taking and paying for his bed - he is literally not allowed to go to school this semester if he breaks contract, which he has to) I know how tough it can be. I'm now only going part time so that I can pay for school as I go and avoid loans after that first scholarship fiasco. It's going to take me longer, but I'm going to get there. I make sure to put aside a chunk of each paycheck every payday so I can slowly save up enough. This semester I will be a little short, so I'll take a payment plan, where they allow you to pay it in installments over the semester - by the end of the semester I'll have enough, I'm only a few hundred short. Is there any way she can do something like this? I know it takes longer this way but at least she'd still be going. Even if it's just one class a semester.

On top of talking to school for funding you can talk to like the unemployment office or there's some offices in wic buildies sometimes that will help you. We have a thing called chautauqua works that I think is a government ran office that helps you find jobs but also I know they ask if you want to go back to school and I think they help you find funds also. Just some more idea's I'm not sure she has looked into. I remember wic asking if we was wanting to go back to school or if we needed help with babysitter not sure what they do if you don't have kids though and not sure if she has kids or not.

What is this picnic that I see chitter chatter about?

Ugh.....the horse paddock is a sheet of ice. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about buying some sand or kitty litter to spread around.

Thirdly anyone have a lavendar orpington roo that they are looking to sell?

I have lavendar cockerels.

Pyxis - all new chickies made it through the night, but as it is quarantine area they were all fussy and slept in different parts - as there is not roost for them - they didn't like the new "hotel"

The leghorns look really skinny - so I'll have to fix that! The roo is calm, PR roo is strutting around and Magic is just moving around the pen to stay out of his way - they both seem satisfied with that. White roo could care less about anything but food and sun. So all is well today. Will put bad roo back in there tonight and see what comes of that.

Wine is good. nuff said.

Brelella (sorry I know I always spell that wrong) My personal preference is not to go the comedy or pun route - too many have done that ... pick something that touches your soul or passion - and connect to that. As I made some real bad choices and came back from it - and as I also take in neglected animals occasionally - I call my place Phoenix Farm.

So things like Apple Sun Farm, Raspberry Valley, oh - I see a wild food pattern ! Well you like horses - so throw some ideas together with your passion and run them by here :)

Spelling .... well I make my living doing freelance editing of other people's novels, reports and such .... and when I write I rush along to make sure I get the ideas down - I don't care about grammar, spelling - nuthin except the idea. Even on re-writes - I ignore it all until the very last step and I don't bother to correct it in emails and such - I look at those (and this) as casual communication.

Funny I can be such a detail person in work I am paid to do and not give a fig in places like this. :)

Morning you nut jobs! You all crack me up! Guess the alcohol was flowing last night! Im glad someone can enjoy it for me. The byproduct of wine and beer making is nitrates and since I am highly allergic, I can no longer enjoy a nice cold sam adams on a hot day. However, that doesnt preclude any of you enjoying one on a hot day.

Bill was crowing his fool head off since 4 am. When I opened the door to let them out I stepped inside to check on things and the feeder was empty. Guess he was trying to tell me his women were hungry. I checked it yesterday and it seemed fine but maybe they ate more than what I expected or there wasnt as much food in the feeder as I thought there was. Anyways, I filled it up and threw some out in the run and all is quiet now. Crops are full so complaints have ceased.

I come home stinking like coffee after a shift. My face is gritty from grinding the beans as the coffee dust gets everywhere. I had to give up coffee for health reasons but if I could, I would be drinking lots of it. I love coffee too Stony and it killed me to have to give it up. Now I just smell like it on certain days! The siren has some real nice coffees.

Off to the pharm today for more insurance fun. Have a good day everyone!

All this talk about correct spelling has me on edge!

Judging by some of the chicks and eggs I've gotten and paid for I'd rather they spelled the name of the breed wrong then send me the wrong breed. AND they have. What's more I doubt they cared one bit.

I'm thinking of changing my business name on my DBA before I file the rest of everything and order pretty things. The Chick-Inn farm just sounds funny and people keep asking me if I run a bed and breakfast in the country kind of business.

I just don't know exactly what else I want.

Well I think if I were to have a DBA it would be " Chicks Don't Lay".

Not really I did get 8 eggs yesterday. Mostly BM's and EE's.

I found that kitty litter absorbs water and doesn't help w/traction. I found what work s best is to make a path w/fresh(warmer) manure. I melts into the ice and makes a better footing. Sand is good as well. no salt.Salt is not good for the paddock

The picnics are great fun! try and attend!

I recently used insoluble grit on my path. The chickens will clean up some of it and I don't have to worry if they eat it. Not sure what is in Kitty litter and it gets mushy and messy. I've used it long ago.

Now sand is good but you might need quite a bit of it.
