NY chicken lover!!!!

Thanks for the FYI! I've been calling this guy the wrong thing for 7 months!!! Oops!! Guess it's my own fault--was excited to get a "surprise" shipment from McMurray and thought I had guessed right on the breeds by this point. Oops!
Sussex he is! :)

I lost my favorite roo to a hawk attack today
sad.png
evil thing ate him right in the doorway to the coop. It's all my fault too, this morning I heard the blue jays making a ruckus and I still let them out. I feel terrible... The little guy was missing his toes due to frost bite but he was still a peppy little thing.

I'm down to one older roo now who I think in the spring will be going to freezer camp. Therefore I'm pretty sure I will be looking for a decent roo come spring. I don't care what breed or age as long as he has a decent temperament.
Sorry for your loss - loosing a favorite whether a hen or rooster is always hard.

I have two that I got from a chicken swap. I think the rooster who sired the two roosters I have is Blue Copper Marans (or at least partially).
I'm not sure what the hen part of the cross would be, as she has multiple breeds. They don't have any feathered feet, but the sire did.
They're both good temperaments, but need to reduce #'s to make room for ones that will be hatching.

Here they are:

And yes, those are all roosters in the background, except for the ducks.

I like this one's pretty chest feathers, but their brother that I'm keeping is even more handsome, as he has more "gold" on his feathers!

And we sometimes go shopping or visiting relatives around the Albany area, so if you're interested,
my family might be more willing to include a rooster delivery in the same trip.

Got it set up and running in our bedroom for now. Hopefully by the weekend I will have it settled and figured out and then it is Hatching Time!!

I finally broke my young broody sizzle...Now I have my bantam silver laced cochin broody. I gave her 4 eggs. We'll see how she does. She seems to be doing alright.

Congrats.

I'd thought of setting mine up in the bedroom but it makes to much noise.

Congrats! Be careful, the incubators can multiply as fast as the poultry. I started with one homemade one. Now I have a Brinsea 20 and two Little Giants, lol.
