I had figured some birds had built a nest in the fencing but couldn't see it until I started to clear the weeds away. I didn't really look very hard though. What would I have done had I found it anyway?

Evening all. Almost had heart failure when I saw the egg prices in the supermarket. Time for me to raise my prices. I have been holding off but now that they have gone up around here I need to come close to it. As it is Im just breaking even. Girls have dropped a little in production since the bear visit. Didnt have quite enough to fill all three big orders. Still have 2 coons coming by at night digging around a big stump. Not sure why. Need to make them go away though.

Let Little Big Man out with his woman and the two babies to freerange. This was the first time the babies have come out of the run. The two of them stick together like glue. I suppose as survivors of the bear breakin of their little coop it is to be expected. Now that they are bigger, Splash doesnt beat on them hardly at all. No real bonding as of yet between them all but at least they are getting along. No signs of either bear back either. Still working on bear boards. I hope they step on them just so they get the idea that they arent welcome here, for any reason.

Busy day off today as I will be working the next 7 in a row. Adjusting to being back at 40 hours but am happy for this opportunity. Not everyone has a job, or even a fulltime one. No complaints from me. I am grateful.

Pyxis--the article you posted the link about pertains to me, as I live in that county. Too many city people moving up and wanting everything the same as the city. Im a live and let live. Thats the problem with society today. Everyone is so busy getting into everyone elses business that they forget to pay attention to their own. Sigh. Thank goodness I have cool neighbors who like my chickens. Hopefully it stays that way.

Stay well everyone.

I hear ya on the egg prices. $2.99 at Wegmans. I too will have to raise my prices. I don't break even. Not that I sell alot but still it's work.

I've got new hens near laying age and some chicks coming up and eggs under broody hens. It will be a tough winter raising them up. Most are Delawares and I need more as they're good winter layers.

I lost three hens this spring. Only the Dels and since they're enclosed it's a mystery. I think poisoning from caulk I used over the nest boxes or the wild Morning glory vines on the fence. I don't understand why they have to pick at everything. They've pecked the paint off the coop. It's dark purple for heavens sake.
