NY chicken lover!!!!

Welcome, Sidney NY over here!
Where do you get your feed?
Have you been to McDowell Walkers?
If your in to regular plain ole feed they have 17% layer mash for $10 and change, 50lb bag. Just about buy two get one free compared to TSC. Great for fermenting, IMHO a lot better than pellets or crumbles, even though it looks pretty powdery it's at least half cracked and whole grains, legumes, and wet it's easier to handle/feed than pellets or crumbles fermented or wet. That mash never turns to slop or mush mess even with lots of water in it.

I have purchased there quite a few times. I work in Norwich so I usually go to Country max. But that sounds like a great deal! How long are they running the buy two get one free?

I just meant the price at a little over $10 was almost buy two get one free compared to TSC Dumor which is usually around $14.50.
M&W sells theirs according to what they are currently paying for grain, has been in the $10 range for awhile now.
I've never bought feed at Country Max but happened to be passing through there this spring and got some really nice tomato plants from them.

Just wanted to say hi! Northern Adirondack is where I call home. I am a little worried about this winter, does anyone let their chickens or ducks free range in the colder months?
My big girls do (barred rock and Easter egger). The Silkies stay in the run and coop even though they have access to about a half acre. When it’s super cold (like most of last winter lol) we lock everyone in the coop and run. Frigid days (like windchill below 0 everyone gets locked in the coop.

Do you keep a covered run? I've been thinking of adding one just for the winter. It was so cold this past January, and then we got all the snow February through April.
