NY chicken lover!!!!

Tab's chicken obsession :

Hope everyone had a good christmas. It comes and goes fast.

Had an opossum get in our coop on christmas eve. It was still there when we got home from my parents. DH got it with the pitch fork we left by the coop, but it still got one of my juveniles. She was a mix breed, but she was a snuggly chicken. I wonder why it couldn't have gotten the rooster I didn't want.

We started up the incubator yesterday which I'm excited about. We have a wide assortment in it. I got a mixed bunch from Karen and Rudy Brouilllette, there were quite a few bantam ones (partridge wyandotte and black cornish), black leghorn, blue andalusion, GLW, silkie and even a duck. And my husband got me for christmas some BLRW from Sue, thank you Sue your birds are beautiful. Hopefully I will have a successful hatch. I only have 2 open spaces left in the ncubator.

Well I hope everyone had and has a great day!

I got some partridge bantam Wyandottes from Rudy last year for my Grandson to show, I hope you get a bunch and can show them as well. I just put a few of their eggs in the incubator just for the fun of it, I really don't have rooom for banties!

I am soooo not ready for this snow. 7-13" expected here, but were on the edge of the 10-15".

Travis isn't as excited about bantams as I am, but they are so cute. He feels the same way about dogs, wants them bigger than his foot. He likes that they make me happy though.

I had never heard of this Rudy before the ALBC conference. I have a pair of Bantam Brown leghorns that he donated for the silent auction rosecombs. I've tried to sell them on CL but no takers. I'm surprised he has never been mentioned on this site before. Though I'm not into bantams they do lay decent sized eggs. I prefer larger breeds. These I think could easily sail over my fence. The roo is really nice looking and the hen is friendly enough and the roos is coming around. To eat out of my hand that is.

I do have eggs in the incu if anyone is interested in chicks. I will trade for others if you'd like, or hatching eggs. Leghorns are an auto sex breed, at least the brown are so you should be able to tell the pullets from the roos.

I'm looking to replace my two year old hens. CM's and BO's and DOM. Have some GLW's I just like to have a variety in the yard along with my Dels. Oh I do have some EE's too but they are young. I'm hatching now for spring layers. I also have a Lavender Amer roo and a lave EE/amer hen. They should make nice chicks as soon as I can get them together. She prefers my older Del roo Nick to the Lav roo.

Take care

Its howling here too. The snow stings when it hits you. We are supposed to get a foot or more. Not looking forward to shoveling out to get to the tractor to take care of the girls. I highly doubt that my spoiled divas will want to get their little feet cold and wet in the snow!!! Of course, they expect me to get cold and wet to bring them goodies!!! What we do for our animals. I hope you dont get dumped on too badly and that your cheeps are warm and safe!
