NY chicken lover!!!!

I would just worry myself into nightmares with NN's in the winter.   Not that I don't like them.

I had to snow blow this afternoon.  No way would I get to the coops with my wagon tomorrow.  I really just take it down to a manageable depth which is an inch or so.  But I just didn't want to have to struggle in the morning.

Ironically enough, nn's are excellent cold weather birds. The three I have do fantastic and lay consistently all winter long. But yeah, theyre so ugly theyre cute!
If this is global warming...bring it on. Its going to be in the mid 50's on Monday ...I can handle that...

Wow, I love that scene!!! Dont see that very often here in Mississippi...... here we have the country living but very little snow/winter.... mostly hot and humid. Where is this in NY?

Good morning ;I would say we are spread out I'm on Long Island other are in the north east part of the state and even more are in the mid western part.I would gladly have invited you up to experience winter last year. I spent 100's of dollars to have my small drive way plowed after every blizzard.I had back surgery 5 years ago and I'm no longer allowed to shovel.(I save destroying my back for gardening which I'm not suppose to do either.)Thanks for my Tenz machine and a bag of frozen peas can still enjoy that.

This is in between the Catskill mountains and the Adirondack mountains. We live way up on a hill near Utica. While it was doing that, other people that live ten min away were having sunshine. Ha! We had a much better adventure and now have four inches of white, sparkley snow under a warm winter sun. Ahhhhhh. :)

The little bit of snow we got yesterday is gone. Going out to finish the 2 Wood Duck nest boxes my Woodies and Mandarins are going to want soon. I sure hope I get some ducklings this spring.

If not, they still are awfully pretty. Tonight we'll be taking the eggs out of the turner for hatch #1 of the year.

Cass- chicks should be here on the 1st

Have more in another bator on Friday - due March 16. Really need to get the brooder set up.....

LOVE ducks. Besides 70 ish chickens we have Pekins. Incredible simply delish eggs that are huge. And they are so easy. No pecking, fighting. Fun to watch too. Need more female ducks. Egg layers tho. Thinking Indian Runners. I may hatch a few Pekin eggs next time I load the bator, just to have some ducks to live with chickens. Maybe I just need 2 or 3 bators...

/sigh.. I make and buy such nice nesting boxes.. and what do I see today? I run out to my garage after hearing a very very loud egg song (way too loud to be at the coops).. and..

Someone.. actually TWO someones .. has found my open bag of pine shavings in the garage.. :p
