Obama Adressing All School Children In Us . Propaganda Or What?

Actually, my older kids are in high school and are happy to stay at home rather than watch the speech. They say they'd just get up and leave the room, then probably get in trouble.

And, it's not about whether or not they pay attention. No other president has ever addressed children in this manner. School is not the place to advance political agendas. The speech should be shown in the evening, while families are home together. That way, if we choose to watch, we can discuss what is being said with our children.

I didn't vote for our president but I think it's awesome that he's making a speech to support the kids and give them motivation on their way back into the classroom. I, honestly, do not believe he has some alterior political agenda that involves our children... I just think he's gonna give them some praise, tell them to work hard and have a great year!!!

Im cool with that.

After the speech, if we got a bunch of zombiefied kids, I'll edit my post

I cannot understand why anyone would have a problem with their child listening to a speech about education and good citizenship. Yes, I lean to the left. However, I would trust an intellegent, educated conservative (ala George Will or the late Wm. Buckley) to inform my kids. Smart is smart. Ideas are not dangerous, if there are lots to go around.

As I have stated, I know that apples fall close to trees. My kids could listen to Rush Limbaugh all day & he could not turn them into callous pill poppers.

So because he comes from a different culture, which is still a part of American culture, he's dangerous?

I live in California and even I hear the call to prayer from our local temple sometimes. What in the world does that have to do with anything?

The speech should have been submitted by to the school boards and then submitted to parents for approval. But to be honest if that is done why not just do it prime time? Why does he want to shut parents out? Would anybody be OK with Coca Cola providing free soft drinks to children in class?
