OCTOBER HATCH-A-LONG!!! 2015

Tonight will be day 18! I will be taking the turner out before bed and putting then in cartons. I am so excited. This hatch reminds me of my first. I am looking forward to my babies!

This is my second hatch. 1st hatch I only got 9 out of 26 because most were shipped eggs. They are 2 weeks old today, and got their first treats! This time I bought all local and set 24. Today is day 7 and my candling has revealed 22 wiggly little chicks with healthy veins!

OMG, what am I going to do with all these baby chicks!!! Lol

Peachickie: I'm very sorry for you. I did the same thing. But under a broody. I was cleaning her nest out,and I busted ,I believe, two OEG bantams. It was like ....."uuuuhhhhg"! What a devastating moment. I know. Don't be too upset with yourself. It was an accident. Just put your remaining focus on the other lives. I'll pray for God to comfort you and bring you peace.

I shipped 30 of my buff eggs to a woman across the country, first experience shipping so was very worried. She just emailed me to say that 29 of the 30 doing well and only 1 blood ring, she's putting them on lockdown today and will send me photos with final head count. Oooh I feel so so so relieved to know shipping didn't hurt them and I get to live vicariously through another hatch this month too. Can't wait to start seeing some chick pics from all the hatches. Fingers crossed for all.

That's awesome! I shipped my first eggs a few weeks ago also, and they all are doing well too. It feels so exciting to know your eggs are hatching somewhere across the country.

it's day 19 for me and I have to that have pipped! I am so excited as this is my first hatch! I know this process can take a very long time but I am NOT leaving my incubator lol.

My icelandic eggs arrived today and just unwrapped and put 18 in the incubator plus
some of my own icie eggs from hens gonna be a long 21 days

Got my eBay incubator 12 days ago so played with it for a few days. The original plan was to purchase hatching eggs in the spring, hah.
All the eggs I had collected from my two small flocks during those first three days ended up going in.8 RiR crossed with a Jersey giant X roo,12 Isa's crossed with 2 different jersey giant X roos,2 maran crossed with a Jersey giant x and 2 americana crossed with a Jersey giant X and 3 bantam eggs, next morning got 2 more bantie eggs and tossed those in too. On day 6 I discovered that the turner had separated and the eggs hadn't been turned for?????, 3 days at most. Candled last night (day7) and 1 clear and 2 of the bantie eggs I'm not sure of,no blood ring but the darn things are so small I wasn't sure(yup, glasses on). It doesn't look like anything is wrong but......
I could swear that some of the RiR eggs look more developed. Is that normal in a mixed batch of eggs?

Hi all, I have 4 eggs in the incubator and 8 being shared between 2 broodies. My broodies are bantam Orps and the eggs are various colors of LF Orps. This is my first hatch! I never would have done it but when my pullets went broody I thought it would be fun to hatch some eggs. They are due on the 16th.

I candled the 6 in the bator yesterday & it looks like 2 are developing. Candled 4 or 5 from the hens and it looks like 2 of those are developing too. My husband is in charge of the bator and I am in charge of the broodies so we'll see who hatches more, lol!

beautiful day four candeling!! So incredible seeing that embryo grow and grow!
Keel the pictures comong!

So has anyone experienced an issue with their imcubator that at lockdown phase when adding. More water to raise humidity. That yiur temperature goes UP?
I now returned twice to find the digital temp at 102 and the manuel at 99 and other manuel thermometer at 97. Seems to round out to 99 but I am a nervous wreck with it being day one of lockdown. Any hints? I now since did adjist thw temp and it sits at 98 98/99 on the digital but seesm to fluctuate since I added more water. For first 18 days temp has sat perfect and humidity did what it wanted.
