There are hatch-a-longs pretty much all year.
There are official ones such as the Halloween and Easter Hatch-A-Longs, these are really fun because there’s contests and other things going on with them. Then they’re the ones that people just post themselves. Look for the monthly ones if you want to join in with others or you can always post your own hatch-a-long.

probably will end up in the easter hatch-a-long. I may do a separate thread for all you guys to choose what hen is in a pen with what rooster though.

They do look so big already! This is a great photo I love the way they’re all looking the same direction.

Thanks, it was VERY hard to get them to all stand for 5 seconds for the photo but it was worth it! Family photos!

I got my first external pip! The blue/Black mottle cochin egg.

today is day 18, going to check eggs this morning and then add an extra lip so the babies don't fall out of the nesting box. Need to get some more cinder blocks and cement blocks for steps outside so when they are ready they can get back inside. need to clean up the small feeder and waterer and add some rocks to the ones already outside. Count down begins

Yes.

I've got it nestled into a thick layer of shavings and they're doing fine.

It it were getting really cold, not just a nip of frost in the early morning, I'd have a Big Red Bulb there too -- if only to keep the water from freezing.

We got TWO babies, 2 external pips and 1 I can't tell cuz how it is positioned. This is the Kebonnixs Incubator I fanangled to work so it ain't getting opened til we done! Lol
Lavender/Black hatched...what do yall think?! Can we tell this early ya think?
These are the breeders pen names so I'm unsure of the 2nd one as to the F in BFC?

When I opened up the chicken coop this morning 3 of the broody's eggs were on the floor. 2 ice cold and 1 lukewarm. The two ice cold had no movement, the lukewarm one I *think* I saw movement. One of the ice cold ones had a large crack around the shell-no liquid just dried membrane (no one had started to eat it either)

I know they say mothers know best but I did put it back under her. I candled the other 3 and every looked good and they were warm. I will be going out soon to check and see if it got kicked out again or not. I hope she gets some that hatch as I won't be able to find chicks and breaking her know will be so hard.....
