October Hatch-A-Long

Day four eggs (now on day 6). Most of them have veins that are visible. I'll candle again on day 7 and mark air cells. Our RIR (hatcery chicks) all lay pretty dark eggs and seeing "in" them is difficult. The above are from our Australorp and mutts that look like Australorp. The shells are lighter and easy to see "in".
What kind of flashlight are you using? And what kind of camera? I can't seem to get dark photos like that with my cellphone camera.

Ooops, no shelf liner in mine and I'm at Day 20. Still no pips. I have them in an egg flat, bottoms up. Should I check to see if any are popping at the wrong end?

If they have pipped the wrong end you can usually hear them. Don't worry, they should be coming along soon! I think day 19 and 20 are the hardest to wait through!

When I transferred the eggs from the Turner to the flat, I unplugged the incubator by mistake, but only for an hour. It got down to 80. Maybe they are all dead. Sniff.

That probably would not have killed them... eggs lose heat much more slowly, so the eggs themselves did not lose that much heat. Mama hens get off eggs everyday, sometimes for long spells and the eggs still hatch. Hang in there! If you can distract yourself with something it will help the time pass.

Only this one is out! There isn't a pip in the other, internal or otherwise. Fingers crossed they are just taking their time and this little one doesn't end up alone! This was taken a few hours ago, they're mostly fluffed now and getting very good at hobbling along.

OK, Breaking Bad marathon!

I'll join you! This is my first post AND my first time with shipped eggs!
I am setting 15 Lavender Orpington eggs tomorrow. I could use all the good luck and good vibes I can get! Oh, and I plan to use the dry method.
