October hatch "Grow-a-long"🐥

Developmental update on little crele girl and Paloma the porcelain girl.

The coloring on these two is really interesting and I’m not even sure what to call either one of them.

Hanabi’s two chicks at 4 weeks of age are the same size, though one has some of the orange on the chest while the other one has no orange whatsoever. Both appear to be female. Hotaru, their full brother from last Spring, was much darker orange and it was spread over more of his body at this age. Genetics are so fascinating!😊

Their colors are starting to look more pretty! :)

OMGeeze they are beautiful colors! The porcelain is looking really good!!!

They do resemble Hotaru!!! They r gonna be cuties! These are the oopsie hatches right?
I am definitely keeping the little porcelain.🥰

Yes, these 2 little crosses were unintentional. Hanabi’s and Niko’s eggs look almost identical.
My new policy of not setting any eggs less than 40 grams should help prevent this in future.
Both of these little cross chicks are friendly and sweet. Tempted to keep them of course.🤣

Sorry you are having so much trouble with the buffs. :hugs
I would treat them all for coccidiosis. I use powdered Corid and treat the whole group by adding it to their drinking water for 7-10 days. It may not be cocci but it will not hurt to treat them and it is the most common cause of blood in stool and diarrhea in young chicks.
Hopefully you get some good advice on the emergencies forum.
