How are everyone’s babies doing?? How are you doing @LadiesAndJane ? It’s been so long!

Oliver is now 4.5 months old and is just a sweet boy!

Im definitely not LadiesAndJanebut I’ve actually started getting eggs from my october hatch, as of the 14th. As of today, they’re exactly 4 months old, and my earliest layers I’ve ever had. I ended up with 4 pullets and 6 cockerels- I rehomed the cockerels and kept the pullets.

This bird below, who I thought was a cockerel for the longest time, ended up being a pullet. I watched her lay an egg yesterday.. This is the first time it’s taken me until a bird laid an egg to be sure of it’s sex.

I checked Ember and Splash tonight and they're at 1.5 fingers between the pelvic bone points. Eggs coming fairly soon.

Oh gosh...I had to look back at my calendar to see which ones hatched in October! Lol?
I guess that explains why a couple cochins have been checking out the nesting boxes and bawkin a lil more...but I'm sure they got another month or so since they are bantams.
Yalls babies are all such cuties!!!

That’s amazing!! 4 months to eggs!! I’m lucky to get them at 6 months! Cute little eggs too!

The eggs are supposed to ship on March 10th (they'll come in at March 11-13), so I'm not sure if they'll be able to hatch at the right time...though, we may get Sebrights as well!

How are you all doing my fellow chicken enthusiasts?

My work life has overwhelmed my personal life.

Oliver is just the cutest!

Because I’ve been so busy I’ve actually sold a lot of my birds, even my Rooster, Eko.
He went to a very good home on another island.
I do have a young porcelain Silkie cockerel, hatched in December from a mainland breeder, that will be his replacement.

11 week old “Lucky 13”

I have 3 Silkie pullets left out of the 11 October hatch grow outs;

October girls Marigold, Rumi and Paloma

The Silkies are nowhere near laying age, though my two blue Australorp girls, Dahlia and Camellia are getting closer. Camellia is starting to pink up a lot in her face and developing comb and wattles so I think she’ll be laying first.
Zinnia did indeed end up being a little cockerel and I sold him to someone who wanted him to be a flock sire, lucky boy!
