Odd colored chick...

Are all of your barred rocks pictured? I see two cockerels in one photo, one of which is darker and could be a barred rock mix. Also, the only hen I see in your pictures is actually a Dominique due to her rose comb.
Wow thanks for the info.

Yes, I have the bigger rooster seperate. But those are the only possible parents.

Really? I was told the eggs came from a strictly barred rock flock.

Those two chickens are the only possible parents? How long has the other rooster been separated?

If they lied about your Dominique’s breed, then the other birds may not be purebred barred rocks either. It’s even possible that the Dominique is actually a barred rock mixed with a rose combed breed.

Yes, they are the only possible parents. The other rooster has been separated since around late October or early November. I could check the exact date.

They came from an older lady at my church that has raised barred rocks for a while. It's possible I guess that she could've bought them as unpure. I did ask her and she's always gotten the regular looking chicks. She would have no reason to lie. She has no other breeds. I wasn't buying any chicks from her. I was helping her hatch out some eggs. These hatched later and I ended up keeping them.

I don't have the hen anymore unfortunately I lost her to a hawk on Sunday. :(
