Me too... I'm keeping it.Fallen in love, with this peep.
I also ended up keeping the other two "regular" looking barred rocks since I lost my hen.

The one you suspect as a mix, is Double Barred, just a Smudgy Cuckoo. Are all of your barred rocks pictured? I see two cockerels in one photo, one of which is darker and could be a barred rock mix. Also, the only hen I see in your pictures is actually a Dominique due to her rose comb.
Hens can sometimes store sperm for longer than a month. Do you have a picture of the other rooster?Yes, they are the only possible parents. The other rooster has been separated since around late October or early November. I could check the exact date.
They came from an older lady at my church that has raised barred rocks for a while. It's possible I guess that she could've bought them as unpure. I did ask her and she's always gotten the regular looking chicks. She would have no reason to lie. She has no other breeds. I wasn't buying any chicks from her. I was helping her hatch out some eggs. These hatched later and I ended up keeping them.
I don't have the hen anymore unfortunately I lost her to a hawk on Sunday.
This is the other rooster. It was included in the pictures on the first post.Hens can sometimes store sperm for longer than a month. Do you have a picture of the other rooster?
He's gorgeous! Not much helpful info here. Only that I had a similar chick. Breed unknown but I got a few barred chicks with him (all chicks were supposed to be purebred) here’s him as a teenager and an adult. Although he has gotten even more colourful I just don’t have a more recent pic! So maybe your chick will turn out somewhat similar to him
It’s a cute little bugger all the same.
Thanks! I sure think so!It’s a cute little bugger all the same.
Looks like a cockerel to me! He's beautiful! Here's the chick now.
Its huge! Double the size of its hatchmates.
