Disliked? you're so good. that word doesn't exist in my sister's vocabulary. Its either "I love you sissy" or "I hate you and i want you to die." oh, well.
I don't have any odd animals except maybe my tortoises but I am waiting for the AC officer to find and orphan possum. Last year she brought in a baby owl but its eyes were too damaged to ever release it back to the wild-it was probably blind and its eyes were damaged from falling out of the tree.
When I was a kid, we had ground squirrels that we caught and raised. We also caught and kept taratulas, bull-nosed snakes and hatched baby ducks. We also had iguanas, when they weren't cool. And there were the chameleons, too. My sister got the nickname "lizard lady" in school (very sad.) I guess the oddest thing I've had as an adult would be my red-eared slider named Pete. She came about because I bought a 2 gallon aquarium at a garage sale, then had to have something to put in it, she was about 2" when I got her. After moving thru the sucession of ever increasing size aquariums (2, 5, 10, then 55 gal), we bought a house and I just had to build a pond for her. Upon completing said pond, she left during a rain storm that raised the pond level too high. I was heartbroken . I'd had her for over 5 years and she was about 10" round.

Now we have a baby largemouth bass, a redear perch and a couple of bluegill perch in the pond. They think they're goldfish. This was when the bass was tiny. He's about 9" now.

You had a tenrec?! What type did you have? I would love to have one, I read a book called song of the dodo, its about evolution and stuff like that, well it talked about tenrecs all the time, about how some only have 1 baby while others have 20 plus, also about all the mutations. And they have a cloaca, like a bird, meaning they have 1 hole for everything, like a bird. Do you have pics?

Hey Mike,
I couldn't tell you what type i had. Heck, i never knew there were different types. All i can tell you is that she was very shy but yet very docile and gentle. She liked being in a dark secluded place and was litter trained allmost immediately.
This one isn't mine but this is exactly what she looked like. She was about the same size as a hedgehog
I do have pics of mine i took with my 35mm packed away somewhere.I don't think there were digital cameras then lol
One critter I would like to have are those African pouch rats, the ones that detect mines. They are about the size of a weiner dog, calm, and make good pets. I found a site about them that says you cannot buy or sell them in America, they can also carry monkey disease or something. They are awesome, and there is a feral population in Florida. Anyone know what I'm talkin about?
