Odd pets, what do you have?

Quote:
Two reasons not to feed them to snakes:
#1 - They are about $40 each around here.
#2 - They will kill a snake in about 5 seconds. Have you looked at those teeth?! I've raised them before, and they are some of the most enjoyable little critters...if they are tame...otherwise, they are evil. I had one shred one of my fingers one time. Not fun.

I was kidding Maidserent about feedin 'em to my snakes. I have a hard enough time feeding mice and rats to e'm.
I don't know if these ones are tame or not. They are very skiddish though.

Degus take a lot of work to calm down, but it is possible. They love sunflower seed and hay, just don't feed them too many seed. I always fed mine free choice hay, 12% all stock pellets, one teaspoon of sunflower seed, mealworms, and dark green leafy veggies. This was split up between six of them (mom, dad, and 4 babies). They are preggo for 3 months, and if you seperate dad from mom for two days after she has the babies, she will not get preggo again until after the babies are weaned (6 months old). They mature slowly and have a long lifespan. A little known fact, degus are not rodents, they are octodonts. Their teeth have 8 sides...I wouldn't have wanted to be the one who had to count them though, lol!

Ok, enough prattling, if you want advice, message or e-mail me, lol.

I love talking about the critters I've had before!

There's Max,Maxine and Big mouth...Hyacinth macaws(3);Chloe and Boo...Scarlet macaws...Barney...the ever recalcitrant Blue and Gold macaw...Eddy and Teddy...the two Amazon Grey macaws, that prefer red Sevilla Habanero peppers to scotch bonnets...a bunch of zebra finches that chomp on all the fruit flies that magically appear in the macaw gazebo...of course there's the three tomcats; Bubba(acts like a dog-evvery southern man needs a dog,) Chuckles(cries to be let out/in/out/in/out...and chow time,) and of course there's Pook;the cat that enjoys the subtle art of passing the deadly gas(growing up,we weren't allowed to use the word "fart",but "pook" was acceptable verbiage.)

I have a fish. He is weird because(i think he's dying, thats not why he's weird but...) he always floats to the bottom of the fish bowl and keeps his mouth open. He has been doing this for like a month... Then after a little while he swims fine... Oh he's definitly odd. I had him for 4years about.

Bearded Dragon, Lieutenant Dan; Burmese Python, Kitana; Ball Python, Aiden.

Fish (Actinopterygii):
Tiger Oscar, Albino Oscar (both about 14"), Plecostomus, about 12 inches, several 29 cent goldfish in the pond (some common, some comets).

Amphibian (Amphibia):

I have another odd animal. Bella, our red lab. When it rains she goes outside and goes to this tree that has a hole in it, she sticks her tongue in there and gets the rain water..... Weird dog!

Most people think I'm weird when I tell them I have a pet chicken.
