Beaner, 2 thoughts occur to me:

A) You'd get a lot of raises if you worked where I do, but they'd drive you even crazier and it wouoldn't be worth it.
B) Your chickens have a conspiracy so that no matter how many birds you sell you will never have less than 50 again.

I would prefer an alpaca to a child as well. Or a dog. Dog vs child, i mean.

I have 4 dogs. DD can get her fill of them at my house, if she wants. I think everyone should have a dog. Or two. Or four. There is the most hilarious dog named Marley at the Knox shelter right now. It's like a lab and a basset put together. My boyfriend likes it but lives out of state and won't be here until next month. I went to see if when I was driving near the shelter sunday and it was the funniest dog ever. Like a fat lab mix with long ears and no legs. It was too lazy to get up and see me...just laid on its bed wagging its tail. When it did finally get up, it jumped on the door a minute and then when it realized it couldn't actually visit me, went and laid back down. Hilariously lazy.

It is the strangest thing ever. I think I even have a picture of it somewhere. One eye is sunken in and cloudy. The other is normal. She had a weird injury as a youngster and her head was swollen and bloody. Still no idea what happened to her. She recovered and has been blind ever since. Loves babies though. The last egg she hatched the chick died.....she has given up being broody for now (for about a week, lol) hoping she'll stay "unbroody" all winter.

If we got a dog I'd want a small one we could take with us on trips. A poodle or a papillon. The neighbors used to have a papillon and I adored that dog. It adored me, too. They neglected it and I wish I'd just taken over, because it ended up getting hit by a car. Idiots ignored an $800 dog. Go figure.

I don't like bassets. They are grumpy when they get old. Only I get to be grumpy.

Beaner, if you ever hear of anyone needing to rehome an alpaca, you know who to call
