Whether your hubby grew up there or not, his family obviously did not push the "boundaries" of what the neighbors thought were, in their opinions, appropriate. It sounds like you should just move out here with me and Jay... We're in a conservation district and any farming, not that simply owning chickens as PETS is farming - it is totally different in fact, is viewed as wonderful by the "old timers". We first moved in, and people were "cold" towards us. They thought we were just more city slickers moving in. Then we brought the horses home, then the goats, the alpacas, the dogs and cats, the donkeys, the pot bellied pig, and now the chickens
... Need I say more? I do have room for Aflac if he needs a place to stay
