She is naked-naked still, prolly less feathers. She cannot roost. She sleeps in a low lying nest box at night. I will close it in when it gets colder, at night.

Believe it or not, updated pic of Lacy (post #120, 1 Oct) this was last night in her roost.

Her sister Cagney was much less dramatic.

Lacy is looking MUCH happier, Spediote however, has lost his tail. (This was 4 days ago)

Same goes for my six-year-old chicken Grandma. She gets traumatized when she molts her feathers and she refuses to return back to the cage when being called along with running extremely fast that you can't even catch her. She's already traumatized even though I don't see any parts of her that are *clears throat* naked.

In this pic it is hot, you can see the other hens panting, but she is not. This morning it was 56, and I saw her shiver.

I think if there was ever any question that chickens descended from dinosaurs, Fancy Nancy confirms it!

Poor bird. It might be helpful if while she molts if she's separated to a quiet place with smooth walls. During molts, the new pin feathers can be extremely painful, so any touch can be terrible. You're saying she's 6 yr. old and you don't see any actual bold spots; she might be dealing with PTSD from previous molts, especially if she's had a bad experience with a hard molt before.
