Okay, I know she won't win but I had to share. Introducing Scrappy.

Also, I posted this elsewhere but she's starting to eat her own eggs as soon as she lays them. Is this normal during a hard molt and will it stop when she's done?

Thanks!

Is it ok for chickens to eat sunflower seeds, shells and all?

5Leepy! :

absolutely! And BOSS is really good for them. BOSS is Black Oil Sunflower Seeds and I've been giving her tons of it.

Thanks. That's good news. Maybe it will help grow feathers!

Well...Dixie won't win the ugly contest, but she sure won't win any beauty contests either this fall

I should have gotten pics a few days ago before her quills came through so well...

The BA with her (June Bug) would win a "Best BFF" contest. She stays by Dixie's side for moral support all day...has since the molt turned bad. In the mornings when I let them out of the run and toss about some scratch, June Bug will actually forego the treat and stay in the run with Dixie. She's such a good friend

..and Scratchpost (so named because when she came to us as an ex batt rescue hen she looked like she'd been used as a cat scratchpost... she's hardy tho hm)..
