My 5 chickens are pets. I love the fresh, colorful eggs, and enjoy being around them and watching them go about their daily lives. What do I enjoy most about them? I couldn't give a definite answer, but...probably interacting with them and listening to their many noises (though the egg-song can get irritating after awhile).

One of my favorite aspects of keeping chickens is raising them from chicks and feeling the accomplishment of turning them into the wonderful hens and roosters they are today.

In other words the accomplishment feeling of raising chickens

My "other" vote is because I think the chickens are educational and a healthy thing for my kids to grow up around. My kiddos LOVE the chickens and know it's where eggs and chicken nuggets come from.

I keep chickens for many reasons, but I have to say companionship is number 1. It’s such a good feeling having some fluffy buffs run up to you in the morning for treats. Chickens all have such distinct personalities, and interacting with them is like interacting with any other pet for me.
