I am 43 too! (born on the ides of March...)

Miss you all.... Feeling much better, just need to stay on "vacation" a bit longer! My excuse is chores.. (I got to get the other side of the coop done for the baby chicks in my basement, also got to get the raised beds ready for the cold frame....)

Well our bears are back.. He tore through the electro netting this morning. (I think I may have unhooked the electric less than 1/2 hour before he came through. (I only charge the fence at night. Do not like shocking my chickens..As they are my friends.)

SO any one have any suggestions on "Psychic" methods of repelling bear.. When they are in the yard and I am asleep I often sense them in my dreams, sometimes I can sense them in the area when I am awake, so since I have a connection, I am thinking of Psychic repellent. Any Native American methods??? (I do not care for the bear, he is darkish on my mental plane.)

I am doing well, mostly. A little stressed because today was DH's last day of work at a job he had for 12 years. They are pulling ground operations out of Cincinnati for Comair, so... He has a second job, but we have no insurance right now. I am not getting the hours I need at work so...blarg, a little stress there. My kiddos have been extra cute lately, so that makes me happy at least. I have almost 3ft tall bean plants that need to go outside if it ever stops raining! Very excited about my rookie garden year. On my off day this week I am going to scavenge some wood so I can start a stockpile for the coop. Those birds need to get out of my bathroom!

Since others posted, I will be turning the big 3-0 this year. Not sure how that happened, but I am a Capricorn all the way!

Just answer all questions honestly. Chances are your kids will never ask about your past sex life. The subject came up with my 17 year old son because he just recently asked me if I had relationships with anyone before his father. I was truthful but, of course, didn't go into details.


My daughters are only 11 and 13 but I have already started having some indepth conversations with them, especially my older girl. Neither have asked me about past sexual activity but if they do, I will be honest.

The results of being so open with your children is that they will be open in return with you. My son, Christopher asked me once if he could curse around his friends. I told him that he was old enough to make the decision for himself but that cursing makes you seem less intelligent in front of others.

Later he came and told me that he didn't think that cursingwas a good idea because it made him sound stupid and he was terrified that he would accidentally slip in front of his sisters.

He probably would never have asked me for permission to cuss if I hadn't spent years being very honest when he asked questions.

Most of my Native friends either live in the High Desert or Yukon Territory. I'm told noise and fire is the only way to keep them away. You have a dog that is fiesty? We used to have the Beagle mix when I worked at a wildeness camp in western PA. He used to walk me home everynight past the trash dumpster. Homer would chase those bears every time. He would run up and bite them on the rump. He was quick. He would jump out of the way of the way of the bears paws when he swung them at him. In the 2 years I was their the bear never got him.

Thanks CM.. I am pretty familiar with the physical ways to keep bears away.. (#1 being lock your trash up!) I was just contemplating on what a "Bear Whisperer" would do.....

Oh, I am of the opinion that people and their behaviors are no different today than they were in the past.. Today some of society is just more open and foretelling, than in the "old days"..
