Hello All

I was raised a christian.. Well sort of. We celebrated all the holidays, but never went to church.. Now that I think of it. My family is actually pagan/wiccan minded.. I grew up knowing to treat animals right. And to never hurt one unless your going to eat it.. And to thank the animal for its life.. I guess that is sort of Native American thinking. We have very small amount in family tree.. We respcected the land and took care of it, because it grew us food.. When my grandfather passed. He did not want a wake where every one wore black and mourned. Instead he wanted a party to celebrate the life he had, which his relatives tried to stop and go the normal route.

I think I am an eclectic pagan/wiccan/native american. Dont know which, because I dont really know the differences in them yet. But my mentor that I had is a wiccan. He set me on my path to realize who I really was. When I just met him. He already knew so much about me with out any one telling him. He said I was a healer.. And that i should start reading about herbal medicines.. He knew I took in wounded animals and took care of them. I still do not know how he knew. And after I started reading about the herbal medicine. I started to learn about wicca.. I was just beginning to learn when he moved away.

I believe every thing happens for a reason. Even if you cant figure out why. I lost contact with my mentor.. And sort of strayed from continuing to learn more. Then some reason.. I found him.. After trying to find him for two years on the internet. I gave up. Then one day, on facebook, there he was.. I did not know at the time why I had finally found him. But now I am dealing with some very bad problems in my life.. They all started about a month after I found him. I believe I found him in my time of need.. He is helping my family get though these hard times. He reminded me to meditate. Which has helped alot.. Its amazing how things work out. I live in the US, and he moved to Australia.. Had not heard from him in almost a decade.. Its just amazing..

I just thought I would introduce myself and a little about me. I have read all 72 pages of this thread with great interest.. Sitting here with a warm cup of tea.. I cant believe it took me so long to find this thread. I hope to learn more, and figure out which direction I am going.. I dont know weather to go celtic type wiccan since most of my ancesters where from Ireland. Or just combine what I think is a right fit for me. I also admire the Native American way. My friend is native american and her mom was helping me find my spirit animal.. But we never narrowed it down. But it gave me an idea. Does any one know how you find your spirit or guidance animal.. Or does it just happen..

Also it is a bit weird. I can sence when some thing bad is going to happen to my family. Not what or when. But I can sence some thing. I also sence an earthquake, even when they are 100s of miles away. And barely no one else felt them. I would say, every one we just had an earthquake. No one would believe me because it wasnt on the news yet or the internet. It doesnt alway work. But it has happened many times. Expecially when they are on the same coast as me. I dont know if it is me. Or I am just in tune with my dogs, and they just know. When my old dog Blaze was alive. She would just look at me and I would sence bad weather coming. I dont get the same feeling from the dogs I have now. But it is weird, I feel like I have known my one dog before.. I had a litter of pups. Gave them all away. For some reason I missed one really really bad.. It wasnt even my favorite one out of the litter.. Two weeks later, the people returned her to me. Now she is here to stay. She doesnt remind me of any of my other pets though. Shes real hyper and doesnt listen really well. But she wont let me out of her sight ever.. She is almost one year old now.

Oh, can any one tell me what this saying means..
"Bright Belling on you"
I was told that belling means blessing. And that this comes out of a special and big event. I cant find the exact meaning any where. And my mentor wouldnt tell me the meaning yet. He said I will know in time..

Thank you all for your time. And reading my book length post.. LOL

Edited to correct spelling errors..

I have been thru every faith and touched a few most would run from. My heritage is native american my grand mother was pure, As I have gotten older my faith has led me back to the earth, I dont know if im a pagan I have kept some of the good I found in other faiths rejected what is hurtful and kept looking. I believe if you search with an open mind and heart you will find your answers .

my dh and my father are like that when we've had tremors over here, they say we are going to have one and within a day there is news about it. we have them on this coast but they are so small and seldom happen that not many are sensitive to them except the animals. we live closely to an old fault line in our area and every 2-3 years around the winter months it seems to move a little, usually just shifting from the cold. i think the most we've ever had was 3.5 or something really low-just enough to make things rattle on the shelves.

i tend to have animals around me a lot so i know when something is not 'right' when they are acting up. my cat is basically my companion, she comes to me and follows around the house. she hates the outside but if i have left the door open while i'm getting stuff she will go out the door and look for me, calling all the time in her sweet sounding 'kitten' mews (she's 16 years old and still sounds like a kitten). when we first got her and her sister they were 8 years old. that night when we brought them home my lady wouldn't come out from hiding under a piece of furniture but i kept trying to coax her out with mewing and purring. it must have worked because when she finally came out later that evening she came right to my room which was at the opposite end of the house! she jumped right up into bed with me and i had a glass of water beside my bed that i gave her some and she just loved me for that. ever since then she's been my 'lady in waiting'! she always knows when i've had a rough day. if i've raised my voice to speak to someone she is right there mewing at me to lower my tone. if i'm alone in bed she will come and curl up with me. she also seems to love it when all my garden catalogs come in each year, she'll lay on top of them and across my laptop if i leave it for a few minutes, if i find something of interest she nudges my hand. (good thing she hasn't learned how to order stuff!

i seem to attract birds too, and not just my chickens. i had parakeets as a kid but my neighbor who used to be a vet tech would on occasion bring home abandoned baby and adult birds to rehabilitate and re-release. i remember one summer she brought home 2 baby robins. one used to hang around but stay out of reach, he used to 'talk' with me but wouldn't let me feed him by hand. the second one was a female and she used to fly down to me all the time when i would call her (would ride my shoulder like a parrot), let me feed her and sometimes i would find her following me around the backyard and garden enjoying what i turned up for her. she learned to migrate and eventually returned the next spring but she went missing shortly after her return and we later found her in the neighbor's yard smashed under a log used for chopping wood (think it was one of the neighbor's kids

). i tend to mimic birds very well so this might be another reason i have a lot of birds coming to me. our local mocking birds tend to come within feet of me to talk and check me out. ours mimic cockateils and canaries.

I like how you say search with an open mind and open heart. So true! I believe "Pagan" is a general enough term to fit aspects of an earth based faith. (Then again, that is just how I feel.) I really do not consider my self Pagan. Just a person on my own spiritual path. I practice no ritual or religion. Though,,, from reading this thread, one could corner me and label me an eclectic pagan I suppose..

Cool.. Another "bird person" I find it interesting that it seems when a bird hits a window and you do not touch it is more likely to die than when you hold it and let it sit on your finger until it finds its balance and can fly again. (It always make me feel good to "save a bird" that way...)

Pagan is just a word. It kinds of discribes earth based religions although I don't believe I have any kind of religion. My beliefs are just that beliefs. They are what I believe to be true. Although they don't have to be so to anyone else.

The one thing you will find among "pagans" is that we are accepting of all people and all ways as long as they don't harm others.
